I agree with this, but can't you say it about everyone?

I mean, any player could change. Drummond could become not lazy, Barnes aggressive, etc. etc.

Selfishness is easily controlled. It's hard to make someone play hard, or make someone care.

Rivers is talented, no doubt. But like I said the NBA is humbling. Put around the right teammates and the right coach, there won't be many problems with him.

You could very well post his strengths too.

quote:

Strengths: A dynamic scorer that can effortlessly create offense for himself off the dribble ... Has solid size for either guard position ... Recently measured 6'5" in shoes with a 6'7" wingspan ... Very quick with the ball in his hands ... Has an extremely quick first step and the ball-handling ability to take advantage of it ... Solid athlete, though he isn't the type to play above the rim ... Is more of a long jumper than a high jumper ... Surprisingly adaptive in the air ... Shows good body control despite smallish frame ... Confident shooter with range that extends beyond the NBA three-point line ... Quick trigger on the perimeter and doesn't need a lot of space to get a good shot off ... Shoots very well off the dribble or out of the triple-threat position ... Very smooth ball-handling ability ... Tough to stop in isolation situations ... Excels at breaking down defenses with sharp and consecutive changes in speed and/or direction ... Chases contact ... Gets opposing big men in foul trouble and shoots a decent amount of free-throws (5.4 free-throws attempted per game) ... Plays very well in pick-and-roll situations ... Knows how to read and exploit the reactions of screened defenders ... Is not afraid of pressure situations ... Burned North Carolina earlier in the season with a deep game-winning three-pointer over the outstretched arm of center Tyler Zeller ... Supremely confident ... Plays with intensity on the floor ... Can be an effective defender when he actually gets low in his stance and bodies-up his man ... It isn't uncommon to see him dramatically improve his defensive posture (and subsequently, his defensive effectiveness) late in close games ... Comes from an NBA family ... Father is ex-NBA point guard and current NBA coach Doc Rivers ...

I mean, ever player has pros/cons.

Isn't this your own opinion, which is what you're bashing Ford for doing?

Henry was the #2 player out of high school. I thought he would be a star. That being said rankings mean nothing I just want a guy who wants to be great and doesn't settle for just being in the NBA.

A lot of it solely based on his own opinions.

What kind of scout doesn't use opinion in his analysis?

David Locke: Clippers were deadly this year when they ran win pick and roll into weakside wing pick and roll - why not get two guards who can run pnr

On that note if #Hornets end up with Austin Rivers to go with Eric Gordon and Anthony Davis is the middle -look and look out fast

this is just getting stupid now.

You dont see scouts writing shite like "he'll fight with coaches, get traded, and be out of the league in 2 years".

That's not scouting.

Rivers isn't great at pnr unless he's going to the rim. He's not much of a passer or catch and shoot player right now. Obviously he can get better at it and the ability to get to the rim is huge..

great NBA coach

His dad is known as a great X's and O's coach. I've never seen anything about him being a great Developer. Also, it is a bit different in the NBA, given the fact that there are no restrictions on how long you can work with a player. Furthermore, how much time do you guys really think Rivers spent with his NBA coach dad, I'm pretty sure he didn't have time every day to work with him on his game.

No matter what you say, his dad, his dad's connections, and playing for Coach K have all given him an opportunity that other players in the draft were not given in terms of good coaching from a young age.

i don't really know how much difference that makes once you get past high school

he's got a lot of physical talent and some skill, but he needs a lot more skill to become a great player. that means he has to work hard at developing that skill. most of that's in the offseason

I guess I am starting to warm up to Rivers after hearing all these reports that the Rockets really want him and will give him a mega deal
