The quicker the better for us IMO

And people say that Gordon devalues Rivers, but he or Lamb would devalue the other. Seriously, we'd be counting on the totally unproven trio of Rivers/Lamb/Henry to play the 2. That does not appeal to me.
Montejunias *supposedly* is coming over if he's going to get a solid role on a team.
Considering where we are at center right now, I'd say he'll have a solid role if he doesn't suck badly.
As far as the 2 goes, that would depend on what Monty, Dell, and Rivers see Rivers' long-term position to be.
On draft night, it was point because Gordon had a death lock on the 2.
Now, it may be the 2. If so, then we can get a veteran to play a year or two while Rivers gets up to speed and grab someone like Royce White or Lowry instead of Lamb.

I understand the Hornets by no means have to do this, but one would think they wouldn't "keep him hostage" here against his wishes.
Sure they would. They have all the leverage. Want to be a malcontent while getting paid the max? Fine, but you'll do it here and frick yourself out of earning big bucks on that 3rd contract.
Or you can sign the QO. Go ahead, do it.
All of this is irrelevant. Gordon knows we are going to match any deal. This is a dog and pony show to get a team to offer him the max, and for us to match that.

This would be my best guess. I just hope he doesn't break down by January.

If gordon wants to leave new orleans, he won't sign any offer sheet.

IMO Gordon is hotdogging this whole thing. He is coming to play for New Orleans. Just a 55 mil deal and let it get over with.

Anyone else think that it'll be awkward if he chooses another team and we match it? People will be saying stuff like "he doesn't want to be here" for the next 4 years

It won't be awkward. He will just sign noing that we will match. Anybody who says Eric hates NOLA sucks it is a pretty good arse city

I would deal him if we could get something good in return. Clearly does not want to be here. Might as well build from the ground up and with the new guys and a PG that wants to be here, we could have a bright future.

New Orleans is a good city, but you have to remember he was living the dream in beautiful Southern Los Angeles with perfect weather, tons of shite to do, and beautiful women everywhere. Anywhere he went would seem like a downgrade.

This fricking shite again? I'm not even bothering anymore. Keep living in this fricking fantasy world where a guy who has been directly quoted saying he would like to come back "doesn't want to be here."

I have said it jokingly but I'm beginning to realize that people actually think this. I'm hoping it's just trolls though. We have a lot of those recently on here.

Here are some comments for you:
quote:
"I do like New Orleans," he said. "It's a pretty good city with good fans and it's a good organization."
quote:
"They've got all the cards," Gordon said. "But I wouldn't mind (going back)."
quote:
"Basketball is basketball, it doesn't matter where you play," Gordon said. "The trade was something new for me, there were a lot of new situations for me. Hopefully, my next situation will be my destination for a long time."
Posted on 7/2/12 at 11:15 am to BeeFense5
The only thing that would satisfy the nuts would have been for Gordon to say, "I love New Orleans so much that I 'fap' every morning because I get to play there. And then I get on my knees and thank God for my good fortune to be in the greatest city in the world. In fact, I refuse to listen to offers from any other team, and I will play for the absolute minimum in New Orleans so that they can sign other free agents".
Even then, there would be doubters.
