Right, but Jackson's being a combo guard doesn't rule out him running the offense. That seemed to be the idea being conveyed.

Frank is gonna contribute this year.

Did anyone else notice Rondo guarding FJ on one of those plays? Apparently he's there too so Jrue/Payton/Jackson are working out with Rondo and Justin Holiday. It's not the same as Rondo mentoring Payton in training camp but hopefully a little something will rub off. It also puts Jrue in a leadership role which the team needs him to be.

Yeah I saw that. That’s pretty cool he’s still working out with the guys even though he’s no longer in the team.

Who would you rather have Randle or Rondo?

That video has to be sped up a notch or two.

Dude is a freak either way. I hope he can build a game from that athleticism.

Rondo. I think Elfrid is terrible(hopefully looks better in new system). We have other bigs. I do think Randle will be a monster, but PG is a major problem imo.

You know who else wasn't that good in the regular season last year? Rondo.

Recency bias has people misremembering the FULL BODY OF WORK from Rondo last season. If Payton can't give this team what regular season Rondo gave them last year, I'd be shocked honestly.

If you knew you couldn't keep Randle past this year I think I take another year of Rondo mentoring AD/Jrue. But if you think there's a chance you can keep Randle, you take a chance on the starting caliber long term piece every time.

This is true, but what he brought was a calm and a way of doing business that I think our team and Elfrid could greatly benefit from.

I simply dont agree. Ive seen you post this plenty of times on this board so a discussion isnt really needed and I know how you feel about the subject. Guess we will see once the regular season gets here.

story on frank jackson training with the holiday brothers and their trainer

LINK

quote:

Jackson exhibited the hops and burst that wowed onlookers at the 2017 NBA Combine — where he placed inside the top 5 in most categories — in front of Jason Sumerlin, the Pelicans head strength and conditioning coach, and Mike Guevara, the Pelicans performance consultant, just before the end of the last regular season.

“We got him on a few of the same tests he took at the Combine and he was able to match those numbers — and even improve on some of those vertical jumping sets in less time than he was given at his pre-combines,” said Guevara. “So what this means to me, this dude’s ceiling isn’t a ceiling, it’s a sky.”

We won't see anything different once the regular season gets here, because no matter how good or bad Rondo is in LA - that has nothing to do with how he was here last season.

I am fortunate because I had a decent Twitter following last season and I would put out poll questions like - If they both cost the same in the offseason and you could only keep one for next season, who would you rather keep: Rondo or Clark?

And Clark would win. He did win. Multiple times.

The playoffs are what you guys remember. And Rondo was BRILLIANT in that Portland series. But in season, he was on the bench to finish games. He was attacked by smart teams and bogged down our offense against certain teams that laid off of him. Go back and watch the Minny or Denver or Utah games. He was the most detrimental Pelican on the court by a mile. Those are facts.

So, no, it won't matter how he does in LA next season. I am simply talking about who he was prior to April with the Pelicans. And if Payton can't be that, then I will be very surprised and disappointed.

Can this be centered back to a Jackson discussion?
