Gasol is a RFA. What motivation would the Grizzlies have not to extend him ?
Never said they wont want to extend him. But they arent a lock to throw him a max offer right off the bat.

Well, there in a position that they don't have to offer him max money right off the bat if they don't want to and still be able to keep Marc.

You're still in Peja for Iggy fantasy land SFP. That had a 0% chance of ever happening.

Philly would get 15 better offers for Iggy than Okafor. Plus value-wise, Hawes is a way better option for them

What is Okafor and Pondexter for Iguodala then?

Add in Willie Green and they might be tempted

Well then whats the problem with what i said?
At the very least, the Hornets should force them to give a third guy on their roster, max money.

Their market is as small as NOLA and for the foreseable future they're going to be right on the cap number with just 4 guy's(Conley, Gay, Randolph, Gasol) deals.

Their roster better be championship worthy as is. Because with those deals, they'll have no wiggle room going forward

they don't really need much more, not with their starting 1, 3, 4, and 5 locked up long term

So what team would people rather have

Paul/Jack
Belli/Green
Ariza/QPon
West/Landry
Okafor/Gray

Or

Jack/Blake
W. Chandler or Afflalo (FA acquisition)/Belli
Ariza/QPon
West/Odom
Bynum/Gray

?

Okafor may not be worth his escalating contract, but he's as good at center as the Hornets can realistically expect. Same with West. Pick up a scoring wing to compliment Ariza and CP3 and hope for a good draw in the playoffs.

hard to do this without cap space and with a possibly shrinking cap

and we had a scoring wing in thornton. monty doesn't care for that type

so basically we need a new coach, too

Favorable contracts and better than other things we would get if we can't force CP3 to stay with the new CBA or can't make him want to stay with improvements.

From what I've been gathering lurking on Sixers fan forums, Iggy might be the one pushing to be traded. He

Personally I want a bigger and or more athletic guy than Thornton at the 2. So looking more for another G-F type that can hit the 3.

I think Thornton is overrated around these parts because he isn't as athletic as others in the league and he is undersized. I do like him as a player, but an example of why this matters is because we have to put Ariza on the best SG/SF player and our 2s couldn't match up with a normal SF at all.

When I say scoring wing I don't mean 20+ ppg. The Hornets just need a reliable 15ppg that won't disappear when the going gets tough. The problem the whole year was far too many games where only one or even none of 6 wing players showed up. If Playoff CP3 and Playoff Ariza show up and Okafor gets a match up he won't cower away from, then the Hornets don't need that much more to put them over the top.

Thornton is incredibly athletic, and I don't think his height is that big of a deal because he is so big physically.

i just want a guy who can take guys off the dribble and shoot. we have ariza to be big, athletic, and defensive

he's a pure scorer. it's as simple as that

we can't keep letting our 1-sided players like ariza and okafor frick the rest of our team

you win by scoring points

we had 1 defensive minded coach that used an inferior gameplan for our personnel, and now we have another

there aren't many options to change the personnel to fit the style of coach, so we're left with changing the coach
