re: It's Time to Talk About Jayson

I have probably watched 80% of Celtics games since January and he just seems like a beta with an okay iso and catch and shoot game. Solid defender, but no shut down ability. Like a slightly better Harrison Barnes in Golden State. Could be a decent 4th piece on a contender, but honestly I don't see anything more than that. I don't even see flashes of exceptionalism. Honestly, Jaylen Brown shows far more passion, fire, and flashes of ability to change a game.

I do agree with the fire and passion statement.
I just wonder if kyrie has anything to do with that.
But if it is kyrie why isn't Tatum taking over more.
Like someone said he took 6 shots the other night.
He should be taking more than 6 shots. When I watch him play he stands to the side way way to much.
Now how much of that is kyrie always having the ball and how much is him being a beta.

Even in games when Kyrie is out, I see Brown being more assertive than Tatum.
It's nice to have Kyrie as a scapegoat but the reality is that this is just who Tatum is. A real future star wouldn't be this passive. And even if he wasn't getting a bunch of shots, he would find a way to impact the game in other ways. Think of Kobe at that age. He had Shaq and other good players like Eddie Jones on his team but he gave zero fricks and still asserted himself. Same with D Wade as a rookie. Almost every elite guy you can think of. Just tells me Tatum won't be that. But of course he can still be good. Just not elite.

Ohh I agree Tatum plays a very smooth but not passionate game.
It's strange and I wonder if he will ever jump out of it.
Def scares me the more I think about it.
Does anyone remember other prospects being like that when they were in their 2nd or 3rd year.
Say Paul George's 2nd year?

George in his second and third year played with a ton of passion and was a monster on D. Thats when Lebron gave him dap at half court. That kid was something special.
At best, Tatum might be Granger. Which aint bad, but that's the ceiling IMO

Poor crewz, still doesn’t understand basketball

What’s your opinion on Knox’s ceiling?
Posted on 3/31/19 at 3:53 pm to Macintosh
Definitely lower. Maybe Demarre Carroll? A 3/4 who can do everything at an above average level but nothing great.
But Carroll had to scrap to even make rosters and was a blue collar star as a result. Knox might have to fail for a few years until reality hits. Kind of like Jah. Skill wise, I don't see anything exceptional with Knox. I think some teams just fell in love with his physical profile as the draft got closer

quote:Funny, I had the exact same thought. If I somehow saw that the Pelicans had gotten some form of that Clippers package my thought would be that it was a really nice return for Jrue.
Plus I really think you could trade Jrue to the Clippers for a decent chunk of the same assets they’d give you for AD. Maybe it’d just be SGA, Shamet and some Clippers picks, but Ballmer is ready to swing big.
I've been skeptical about what Siakam is outside of Toronto's infrastructure, but, at the point where we're down to the Clippers, i'd be calling about Siakam. I'd have the Bulls on the phone about one of their two bigs and picks. I'd talk to Denver at that point, and if I wanted to really get wild, i'd call Sacramento

I don't care what nerd collectors think of Tatum. I have watched him a lot with my own eyes and both my eyes and advanced stats see a slightly above average scorer and rebounder who doesn't do anything else particularly well. And it's not like he is some Uber athlete who just needs to refine skills or add IQ. Those are the guys who tend to make major leaps. Tatum feels like he is 90 percent of the way to his ceiling already
I bet there is someone out there right now who nobody sees as the level of trade chip Tatum is that ends up having a better career. I can even see Pascal Siakam having a better career honestly. I wouldn't be surprised if RJ Barrett had a better career because of his play making ability
Bottom line, I am just far less excited about a Boston package than I used to me, unless they get a third team involved
Your level of arrogance and condescension isn’t lost on me. I suspect the line between “nerd poster” and “nerd collector” does not exist in your head.
I find it amusing that you are contradicting yourself. You have been screaming from the rooftops that we will get an awesome return for AD for months and now you’re relying on ping pong balls and the willingness to trade that pick for you to be right.

A contradiction is when a person says one thing that runs directly opposite to something they said in that same breathe.
A person changing their mind as facts change over time is not a contradiction. But I am sure you are smart enough to know that

So many people, including the national media, seem to have this backwards and it's so frustrating
The AD trade negotiations will happen in late May and early June, with a trade being agreed to no later than June 20th. Heck, KD might still be playing when the trade is finalized.
Teams will be trying to get AD to persuade Kyrie and/or KD or Kawhi, etc to come to their team. They will think of it as acquiring two superstars or maybe three.
You think Boston will mortgage it’s future without talking to Irving first?
That’s pretty naive to expect teams to spend major assets without gauging the level of interest other stars have in coming to their team.
Posted on 3/31/19 at 4:46 pm to ShamelessPel
You expect Irving to give anyone a firm answer or even know himself on June 20th?
Whoever trades for AD is going to have to do so without knowing how July will play out and they also won't get 100 percent assurance AD will stay more than one season.
But to get a guy that caliber, you gotta take that risk or someone else will and they you definitely won't get him

Yea as far as assertive and fire I'm watching Zion now trying to take over.

Classic crewz. Stating his opinion is a “fact”.

I was gonna say the same thing. Think he might be a Danny Granger type player. I said earlier this year, I'd try for Zion or Ja and if a trade for them is not possible, try hard for Ben Simmons if the 6ers flame out fast in the playoffs. I think he's the better talent.

I’m enjoying his posts so much. Someone as arrogant as him, still thinking he’s pulling the wool over peoples eyes thinking it’s not him, when it’s so obvious it is. It’s gold.
