4 guys/40M backcourt

That's not quite right.

Hill is at $8M/year the next two
Martin is an average of 7.2 the next 2 years.
Holiday/Evans come to $21M each year over the next 2 years.

So it's about the same $ they spend now, but they have 4 players instead of 3. And you can still play Evans at the 3 in this set up. The real kick in the nuts is the extra $15M tied up in 16/17, when Davis is due his max extension and when Anderson is a FA.

I do agree with the general premise though, it's still a good bit of $ for a backcourt with some holes. (Holiday injuries, Evans fit, Martin age, etc). Would be nice to have some money to beef up the wing and the frontcourt.

The guys you're talking about make max money (which these guys won't even sniff with the cap going up)

They'll be making what effectively amounts to the MLE with the cap skyrocketing.

They'll be decent expirings and easy to move in 2016 if we want to go after a guy.

Assuming a 90+ mil cap in 2016:

Jrue/Tyreke make 20 mil combined and hill/kmart make 15 mil combined. That's barely over 1/3 of your cap.

AD makes 23 mil at that time and whomever our center is(be it asik or whomever will make around 10 or maybe less.

Add in QPon and the 2016 pick and we still have 15+ mil with options.

These guys also fit and that goes along way (see ATL who doesn't even have one star let alone a superstar)

Yeah, I rounded up from 37-38M. In general I have a problem paying any back-up or specialist more than 5-6M a year. Especially when you have solid starter ahead of them or a big money guy. Holiday shouldn't need an 8M a year back-up. Same with Evans, if he is starting at SG. There are always comparable guys that you can get without too much drop off. I can see it for a superior 6th man or someone you have to pick-up due to a major injury. But it is bad cap management otherwise..

On the Kevin Martin front, I'm told from the T-Wolves side that there's "no way" he's going to be bought out. Flip Saunders loves him

Exactly, Phoenix is going to lose Dragic, but they're not going to give up IT as well. For EG and Ryno? HAHA nope. That goes from 3 guard deep to 2, both of which are VERY injury-prone.

OKC gives up crap (Perkins, Smith) and an asset they're going to lose anyway (Jackson) for Green and Lawson...?

Denver gets a bunch of expirings for Lawson and Chandler

NO gets a 3rd PG (more of a combo guard) along with a great bench big and above average offensively SF, while losing its only worthwhile SG that can actually...shoot and the only other player on the team that can well...shoot

Oddly tyreke has shot around 35% from 3 over the past month or so.

IT2 has shot 39% from 3 this year on 209 attempts and right around 36% for his career.

Yeah we'd lose almost all of our spacing(chandler mitigates losing ryno/EG somewhat) but It'd be an enourmous upgrade defensively with Chandler/Wright.

I'd do a modifed version with a shooter SG/SF in place of IT(tucker?)

Tyreke needs to be shipped off for something that can hit an open 3.

I would prefer to attract/involve Portland into talks and get Wesley Matthews

Who will be running the offense the next few months then? Gordon can't handle the PG load by himself.

Assuming Dragic will just be a rental frees up a lot of space for us to sign who we want. Maybe even under a new GM.

To be fair, Moore tagged that tweet with "YOU WANT TO GET NUTS? LET'S GET NUTS"

It's not realistic. But I do think the Dragic market is more depressed than many, perhaps even Phoenix, will admit.

Gordon's $/injury history is a problem, but Anderson is their new Frye. The PG stuff isn't as big a worry for me. Gordon has shown great playmaking skills since coming back and they have a rookie pg they can start playing more.

The hard part for me is the Denver aspect. They aren't keeping Dragic. I don't know who is giving them picks. It's Chandler/Lawson for Jackson and expirings. I guess that is good enough?
