I just cant see players shying away because they didnt trade CP3 to a place he wanted to go. That just sounds silly all the way around

Hell. Yes.
The way I see it, we almost have to trade Paul now.

trading him to toronto or minnesota, places he almost assuredly does not want to go to, is what i'm talking about
if they trade him there(its unlikely anyway, lets face it) to get the best deal, then nothing can really be said. I doubt they would do it out of spite.
But lets face, if the Hornets are going to do this right, they are going to need to get a probable lottery pick(at least IMO) and not to many postseason caliber teams hold the keys to lottery picks at this point. and a team like NYK doesnt have picks to give. I dont know, maybe its just me. But high picks are going to be a necessity in a deal involving CP3

We really don't have to trade him till next offseason at least. I would like it if Demps and Williams can convince him to stick around till at least halfway through next season and if by the time the trade deadline comes around the Hornets aren't contending then New Orleans will explore trade options

No team that the player being traded doesn't want to go to is going to give up assets to bring in a guy who's only under contract for 2 years. Especially a place like Minnesota or Toronto where he'd obviously be miserable and sulk/throw a bitch fit like he is here. Secondly, the types of teams that would trade for a guy like Paul who is only under contract for two years are the teams that feel like they are legitimately one player away from being a contender. New York is the unique exception since they are marquee team in a marquee market that suck right now, but would easily lure free agents w/ Paul and Stoudamire.
Exactly
I don't understand why people in this thread are saying Paul has 0 leverage.

That's because you're making the incorrect assumption that we have any pricing power here. This is a preemptive Sign and Trade meaning Paul gets to limit the potential buyers to playoff teams and the New York teams. There is a new "sources said" report out that Paul allegedly told Amare that he was going to force his way out. If this is all about creating a big 3 in New York, Paul may have enough pricing power to keep us stuck with Okafor too unless we get a 3rd team involved that might actually be interested in him like Toronto. If you're stuck with Okafor as part of the deal then it might be time to ask yourself if it's worth it or if you'd rather roll the dice on the new CBA and see if he's more interested in the Hornets if forming a big 3 isn't an option in 2 years and the Hornets have continued to improve.
But back to the lottery picks. Houston is probably the only team we can deal with that might be able to give you lottery picks. I also would think the Knicks 2013-14 picks have lottery potential since Amare and Paul both have their naysayers saying they'll need knee surgery in 2 years.

Media really pushing this to get their big 3 started in New York.

Apparently NYK is willing to trade anyone but Amare to get Paul, which is not surprising.
To me, a nice trade with Portland or the Knicks could really improve the Hornets. I trust Demps to make a solid move

I was joking earlier in this thread, but it's mighty strange that the crash coincides with the housecleaning in the front office. Just saying . . .

agreed. the media is pushing this story way more than it probably deserves, there's obviously an agenda there. Not to mention it's the dog days of summer with barely a thing to talk about on sports radio all day long

it seems to me that ESPN hasn't jumped on the cp3 trade rumors/talks as much as they could be

That radio crew sure has, I was only in the car for about 30 mins tops this morning and heard at least two segments on ESPN purely about CP3 and where he will play next season and other related BS

well a superstar being traded is a big deal
the news came out over the weekend, so being a big monday story is logical
and it is a dead time in sports. they could be running this into the ground like lebron-gate

Yeah Eric Kasileus (sp?) said clearly Orlando has the best package to give
WTF. Orlando has, by far, the worst package to give. Just dog shite awful.

Collison
Thornton/Azubuke
Gallo/Randolph
West/Randolph
Curry/ Turiaf/Randolph
If a deal similar to that one goes down, for some reason, i see West also getting moved.
We start Randolph at PF and i think we could either get a C to replace Curry or legit-sized starting SG
