Making naji out to be a bad guy is wild. Team loves him . Coach loves him so much he can’t help but play him .
He role should be to get in when we need an energy boost bc that’s what he is as a player. He’s just playing too many minutes considering the other players that are on the roster with better skill sets .

Which is why I don’t understand why Willie sat him in fourth when game was close?? The dude rested and played only 32 min????

Is this coaching stat? Just curious

I agree with you. This is more on Willie. Naji is not a horrendous player but Willie needs to stop treating like he HAS to get minutes- its part of the problem. So when he fricks up- it costs us games.

A big part of those close losses is coaching in my opinion.

All Trey wants to do is stand in the corner and take 50-foot shots like he's Steph Curry, Reggie Miller, or Ray Allen. When he makes the shot, he just stands there and does the pose. He needs to tighten up.
He took it to the rim a lot. That is why he shot a bunch of FTs.

Zion was good today, not great was my point .
Especially considering there was a guy on the other team that out scored him, out-rebounded him, out assisted him , and made plays when it was needed.

Same thing happened in the Rockets and Grizzlies collapses. Zion goes to bench with 7 minutes left up 8-10 and doesn't return until the game is tied with 3 minutes left. The offense completely collapses, and the other team feeds on the momentum making all the hustle plays

I don’t think anyone disagrees with this .
Willie is a blue collar guy . I have no doubt he sees himself in the hardworking earn it kind of guys like naji . To naj credit he played well Saturday .
Griff could help by taking it completely out of his hands . But I think Willie and the coaching staff will begin to see it and naji will be the odd man out of the Jose , hawk, naji trio

You got people saying shite like this while Brandon Ingram goes 3-14 from the field. fricking pathetic that’s our second star. Just too inconsistent

You realize one is independent of the other , correct ?
Brandon playing poorly doesn’t mean Zion was great .
Think.

Can’t be having night’s like that getting paid 34 million a season. It’s inexcusable.
By all means, be crap getting paid MLE… but you can’t fricking take that much cap space and be that awful and terrible in the clutch.

Can't make plays when Willie has him sitting on the bench. As soon as he came back, we got three straight easy baskets after only getting 1 easy look the previous 5 minutes, which JV blew.
Kyrie was great, but he was given the chance to make plays when it was needed. Zion, once again, wasn't given that chance

He also got going despite having dyson and Herb he was going to stick Naji on Kyrie. Kyrie obliterated him and got them back in the game. Its these kind of decisions that are mind boggling by Willie? Naji is a ok defender- not elite.

Can’t get more than 1 rebound in 32 minutes , can’t make Ft’s with the game in the line ?
Again , my initial post was not an indictment of Zion today . It was just simply pointing out that there is a difference bn good and great .
Kyrie was great today . Zion was good.

I dont disagree with this. But that Mavs team knows, leans on and expects kyrie to be great.
Now ask yourself do the pelicans do that with Zion or expect him to be a complement to BI?

I’ll answer your question with a question , if I may …
Can Zion be counted on / depended on to be great on a consistent basis ?

He showed last year when conditioned and in shape he can. If they can’t do that ir don’t want to- then just trade him. What they’re doing now is dumb. I’m not hating on BI- but they’re making someone into something hes not and not playing through the more elite talent.

Not saying you’re wrong but there is a huge qualifier on your statement :
“When conditioned and in shape he can”
1. I don’t think he is either of the above and don’t think that is arguable .
2. He was counted on last year and was great until he wasn’t . He missed 4 months with a hamstring injury . He has yet to finish a season.
I won’t argue Z is a more elite talent but is he the more elite player?
That is the conundrum for the Pels , imo. They have 2 good to really good players. Both have moments of greatness but neither has consistent sustained it . One guy has been more dependable than the other and approaches the game the right way. The other has more talent , has games where he’s dominant , but has more where he’s been lazy , oft injured, and hasn’t expanded his game since being drafted .
