to update after March 28 games... and since this is a play-in tracker I'll only update the teams currently BEHIND the Pelicans in the standings...

Pelicans:
@ DEN
vs. LAC
vs. SAC
vs. MEM
vs. NYK
@ MIN

Lakers: (0.5 GB of NOP... won season series over NOP 3-1)
@ CHI
@ MIN
@ HOU
@ UTA
@ LAC
vs. PHX
vs. UTA

Thunder: (1.0 GB of NOP... lost season series to NOP 3-1)
vs. DET
@ IND
vs. PHX
@ GSW
@ UTA
vs. MEM

Mavericks: (1.0 GB of NOP... season series with NOP tied 2-2)
@ PHI
@ MIA
@ ATL
vs. SAC
vs. CHI
vs. SAS

Jazz: (2.5 GB of NOP... won season series over NOP 3-0)
@ SAS
@ BOS
@ BKN
vs. LAL
vs. OKC
vs. DEN
vs. LAL

Trail Blazers: (5.5 GB of NOP... lost season series to NOP 3-1)
vs. SAC
vs. SAC
@ MIN
@ MEM
@ SAS
@ LAC
vs. GSW
(I know Portland has essentially folded up tent already... but I included them anyway since they can still mathematically catch us... they would have to win out while we lose out for them to pass us)

oh by the way... our game vs. Memphis... the date of the next Zion update where MAYBE he gets the green light to play again...

that game could determine if we get the tiebreaker over Dallas... so... yeah pretty big game to get Zion back if we do

a win over Memphis that night secures the better division record tiebreaker for the Pelicans while a loss would mean we need Dallas to lose to the Spurs on the season's final night to get that tiebreaker or secure the better conference record tiebreaker

Bolded = obvious choice of who to cheer for
Italics = I guess this is who we cheer for

No doubt we're cheering for The Suns and Grizzlies too. Clips have a rough stretch and GSW will get at least 43 wins. I think the Top 5 are likely to be

Den
Mem
Sac
Pho
GSW

and the #6 would be my preferred seeding for us.

7 would be OK too, I just don't want to play Denver, GSW or Phoenix

The Suns are the only team that would really scare me, if we had a healthy Zion. I think they are the best team in the NBA -- we just haven't seen them with Durant yet.

I'd rather play Phoenix than GS.

Dream scenario with Zion, I'd definitely rather have GS. The Suns are probably about to be real scary with Durant. And they'd have Ayton down low that would give Zion more problems than Looney would.

Yeah, Zion could drop 50 against GSW. He'd just dunk all over them. Looney and Draymond would get into foul trouble immediately, and then what?

if you get 7, you get your wish. memphis and then Sacramento.

you meet Denver gsw winner in Wcf.

7 requires a 7 v 8 win though. might be tough.
win or go home vs Minnesota for example.

It's double elimination if you're 7 or 8, but your point still stands to a degree. If we lose the first and win the second in that scenario, it's 1st rd vs Denver.

I also have a feeling that LAC will end up falling to the 7-10 range when it's all said and done. Not that it would make a huge difference to us though, both MIN and LAC would pose a challenge in a play-in game.

I only mention it because I don't see how LAC wins more than 2-3 of their last 6. I only really see one sure fire dub in there

Man I get nervous just reading this thread

It's playoff time right now really. There is not a single game that doesn't matter from here on out for numerous teams. Crazy.

Clippers have ruled Kawhi Leonard out tonight due to personal reasons.

I mean, they were going to lose on the road in Memphis anyway, but wow. This is not a good time to have personal issues.

When Kawhi chose the Clippers over the Lakers I really thought it would end the Lakers dominance of Los Angeles. Whoops

ESPN Sources: Philadelphia 76ers stars Joel Embiid (calf) and James Harden (Achilles) are returning to the lineup vs. the Dallas Mavericks (ESPN, 7:30 PM). Both tested injuries on court pregame and are good to go.

Awesome news.

I would also say we want Brooklyn to throttle Houston so they still feel feisty in the East hunt

and Miami to beat New York b/c we want Miami solidly fighting for their playoff lives in those games where we need them to win later
