There's two players on this team that we can't trade, Davis and holiday. Everyone else is available

This board never disappoints. Trade one more year of Jrue Holiday under contract for Aaron Gordon and Oladipo, who the Pels would have the option to keep for at least 3/4 more years? frick no!

If you think Holiday is a component in moving forward, yeah you don't want the trade.

We already have two ball-dominant guards who can't shoot consistently. You want us to give up our last one under contract for a 3rd ball dominant guard who can't shoot.

You guys are so hung up on fit when the team sucks and have no young guys under contract.

Can't call Jrue too much of a future component when he is only under contract for one more year. And considering he isn't a max guy and everyone will have cap space his bird rights aren't that valuable.

he's 25 and looks to be recovered appropriately from his injury.

and you can't consider him a possibility to keep if you ship him off. I like Oladipo, but in the proposed trade you're sending off two assets (Ryno and Jrue) for one (Oladipo). All while Ryno's value, if rumors are true, can net you an asset by himself, without you having to give up a 2nd asset.

They also would get Gordon plus a worse team which means better lottery odds. Dipo and Gordon (RFA 2017 and 2018) player control is important too.

Keeping Holiday isn't going to dramatically alter this team's fortunes over the next year or two (they won't be good regardless) and then you are staring at him being an UFA- either pay him, with a serious injury history, a boatload of $$ to continue being on your bad team or watch him walk to a better situation. You don't dump him, certainly, but this team needs a rebuild. Keeping him or any of the other non Davis pieces to try to band aid this roster is just a ticket to the treadmill.

Of course, the problem is that you can't really tear it down and rebuild like this unless Davis is cool with not even trying to get the Rose rule money and not even pretending to chase a playoff spot. You also can't force Davis to play on a team with Cole and Douglas as the only PGs; it just violates his 8th amendment rights. The Pels appear, at this time, to have backed themselves into a corner

I don't really see the problem with keeping jrue

In fact you could get a discount in a similar manner to curry and keep him as a core piece.

I wouldn't trade him except for a player like middleton. Jrue's been playing at such a high level over the past few months and knock on wood looks great physically.

It's not a problem. But I don't think he's a piece they NEED to keep. Again, you don't dump him. But they should be willing to move him to get younger, cheaper, and deeper. Roster issues are far more profound than Davis and Holiday can cover up

Maybe. Big caveat is that Curry was a RFA. Holiday will be hitting UFA for the first time at 27 with another hit at 30/31. If he's healthy for the next 18 months and playing well, there will be other teams calling. The cap is supposedly jumping another ~$15M or so that summer too. Teams will have cash to bid. If he's not, then you're stuck with a better version of Eric Gordon from the past 4 years. Discount is nice, but not much consolation.

Got it

Rest of the roster needs shaking up regardless

I think a true two way wing(like a batum) would make this team a lot better

We need a wing in the worst way possible. I'm tired of seeing Cunningham and gee not being able to hit open 3s. Offense needs a knock down shooter if they're wide open.

I love trades where we give up 2 of our 3 best players in return for guys who can't get minutes on mediocre/bad teams. Let's do it!
