I think I assumed and said that in another thread. It was said over and over about Zions body type, he could be injured pretty often. Probably the biggest negative about him when he was drafted.

“Probably the biggest negative about him when he was drafted.”
- he was the overall number one pick by everyone when he was drafted. Nobody at that time brought up serious concerns about his body type and getting multiple injuries. All that happened after he was drafted by pelicans. If they chose Ja number one over Zion- everyone on this board would have melted.

Wembenyama has. body type injury concerns. Should the Spurs plan to have a $30 million backup PF or C? Absolutely not. Reality may force them to at some point, but you don’t have that as the plan early in the build.

Exactly. And lets be real Lauri became the player he was at Utah. And as good as that player is, Utah still stinks. Not getting Lauri is not one I frankly care about if he got away.

More receipts from a thread I started, including a few gems…..
To think a few posters said they rather have Sato and Collins than Lauri lmao….

Here's a simple answer. Temple and Sato are better than Lauri.

Markkanen is straight up a waste and I don't want him. It would be Ryan Anderson 2.0. Constant underachieving with everybody making excuses for him. We don't need a high priced back up for Zion

I think NAW is our third star and this is the year he proves it.

Lauri ended up signing a contract for about half that amount. Rumors at the time he wanted 18 a year, he ended up settling for around 16. Not bad for a player that could likely finish ganes at the 4/5.

Bro not getting Lauri is an interesting hill to stand on considering the other issues this team has. You honestly think getting or signing Lauri would make this team and franchise significantly better? The Pels weren’t the only ones who missed on him and I mean frankly I can promise you when Jazz got him they never thought he would be an all star. And despite all that, Lauri still isn’t really impacting winning with the Jazz.

After we didn’t bite and Chicago couldn’t find any takers because there was no market for him at the price he wanted. Had the Pels traded Lonzo for him, they’d have paid a higher price.

It’s what he does. I wish he would talk basketball more because I think the more well thought out points of view the better. But half of his posts here are self congratulatory “I’m smarter than Griff” posts, as if you get points for that.

Not dying on that hill. I’m just saying the vast majority of the board didn’t want anything to do with Lauri and I thought he had a place on this team with his offensive game and 3point shooting and Griff shoulda made the trade. Lauri M would have been very useful last year. And before when Adams couldn’t finish games.
Turns out Griff and the board were wrong and I was right.

It really doesn’t take much for that with some of the moves Griff has made during his tenure. The ones I have been the most vocal about have turned out just bad as i originally thought.

Well here’s thing if you’re going to compare yourself to Griff- you can’t just talk about what he didn’t do, you also have to compare what your decisions would be in regards to the good decisions he made. Did you think you could flip Adams for JV and draft Trey; were you advocating to draft Herb Jones; did you see NBA potential in Alvarado; did you think we could trade for CJ without essentially giving up a first round draft pick; were you big on us drafting Hawkins; how about signing Matt Ryan to a 2 way?
Im not even a huge Griff fan but its easy to criticize someone’s mistakes. A lot harder to say you would have made those same decisions that led to the guys who have been successful on this team.

I know I'll sound like a jerk, but it's also truthful...I highly doubt anyone cares what you said and thought all these years ago, especially if it's not just a one off comment but just done over and over and over and over.
But you do you!

I know it’s early but Ryan is exactly what the Pels needed. A try hard bench player that’s a knock down shooter. I know we have Trey and Hawkins is developing but we need all the shooters we can get to surround BI and Zion.
