Hawaii’s Kamaka Hepa has agreed to join the New Orleans Pelicans for NBA Summer League, I’m told. The All-Big West 6’9” stretch forward averaged 11.5 PTS, 6.6 REB, 1.5 AST this season. Strong shooting indicators at his size — 39.5 3P% on 5.2 3PA/G and 84.9 FT%.

Does Summer League count as making it to the NBA? If so, would he be the first Polynesian is the NBA?

The fact that I find myself getting so hyped by these measurables from an UDFA from Hawaii makes me sad to think we haven’t been forcing our moves going forward around this.
I that being said, I want him to do well and be the Willy replacement with a 3pt shot…

Peyton Siva, Jabari Parker, James Johnson, Wally Rank, and Steven Adams are of Polynesian descent
