Man I love Johnny Davis’s game. Has tremendous 3&D potential at SG.

Griff said he thinks teams will start looking at older prospects who have proven themselves in the college game. This guy seems to fit the mold.

I'm just not sure what AJ Griffin's role is in the NBA.

I’m curious if he’s still not 100% after injury ealrier in the year. He displayed a lot more athleticism before Duke than shown during this season. But he does show good offensive ability with his 3pt shot, signs of being able to shot off the dribble, nice mid range, and good post scorer. Defensively he’s a good team defender with a high motor, long wingspan. pretty much everything about him shows promise of being a solid two way player. It’s just he looked slow with the ball this year because of injuries.

Like I said before I think Duke kind of stuck him in a smaller role for this team because there’s so many ball dominant players in their lineups. Banchero, Moore, keel, roach all need the ball in their hand.

Who the Pels pick will depend on who's on the board still. Smith looks like the top pick to me, but the Pels need another outside shooter with high IQ and hates losing. My pick if it's anywhere between 5-10 would be Johnny Davis. You can have Chet. Banchero reminds me of Brandon Clarke of Memphis who is a good reserve. If Ivey is available he will probably be the pick, but I'd be happy with Johnny Davis too. The Pels have enough length, but if they are lucky with the ping pong balls again I don't believe they will pass on Jabari Smith.

If he never gets better from here out, he’s at worst a lethal sniper from deep

What are y’all thoughts on a guy like Caleb love? Top 10 player coming out of high school in the 2020 class with really good size and length for a pro guard. I know he struggled badly with his shot his first year at UNC but he has really turned it on as of late. I can’t help but think if he has another huge game tonight his draft stock will sky rocket more than it already has. Kid def has a lot of potential and plays extremely hard.

Why is Caleb Love projected in the 2nd round?

with his athleticism, length (6'4" with a 6'9" wingspan) and scoring ability, and from what he's shown over the last month as someone who won't back down from the moment, you'd think he'd be a lottery pick.

84% FT shooter in his two years, and he's at 37% from 3 in year 2.

And on 2pt fg%

34% last year

38% year

That’s putrid. Would like to see his shooting splits & shot chart to gauge his deficiencies though

and?
Donovan Mitchell shot 41% in his 2nd year in college, and was 35% from 3.
He had a 53.2% TS% in year 2.

Caleb Love's TS% is 52.3% this year.
Johnny Davis TS% is 52.3%.
Jaden Ivey TS% is 57.9%
Ben Mathurin TS% is 57.6%
Agbaji TS% was 52.9% in year 2.

I'm not saying he should be a top 5 pick, but being mocked around 30th seems a bit low for someone with his potential.
I do'nt expect him to become Donovan Mitchell, but the potential is at least there. I think Jordan Clarkson is a better comparison for him.

Mitchell's 2pt FG% after two years was 49%.

Love is 35%. That is a huge red flag despite solid %'s in 3pt and FT. It show's a basic lack of offensive scoring competency.

Understand how TS% weighs 3's & FT as compared to 2pt FG. It is no doubt a solid tool, but with most stats requires some context. Love's offensive game has red flags and lacks the balance

that's important to know.
How guys play in college isn't how they are going to play in the NBA. There's a lot more space to work with in the NBA, and when you have the athleticism and finishing ability Love has shown recently, that translates better to the NBA game. That's the only reason i bring any of this up on why he's mocked so low, when he has so much god given potential.

Getting to the FT line is an important factor in ones game, especially when you're an elite FT shooter. his skillset will allow him to get to the rim and get fouled when he isnt' finishing.

it does lack some balance, but i don't see him as some guy that's going to come in and average 25/7 at any point. He doesn't have the vision to get the assists. He's a scorer, which is why i think he's likely to be more of an off the bench guy, but be successful at it like Clarkson, with a potential ceiling of Mitchell (who has 7 career double doubles in 5 seasons).

Again, i wouldn't take him in the top 8, but if we had a pick at 20 and he was there, i'd take him in a heartbeat.
