I loved the hire.

Changed my tune very early in his 1st season. Ughhh.

I don't think anybody on here thinks he's a great coach. But it wasn't a bad loss given the circumstances. We went to OT against the defending champs in the tuffest arena with a brand new team. And they had two guys have career nights.

There is absolutely %0 chance he gets fired anytime soon so it's a useless thread to just come be a miserable person.

You can pull up that thread. I fricking MELTED. Maybe the most I’ve ever melted on here outside of the Tyreke trade/acquisition.

He was, is, always will be a bum. Hired a loser and we are shocked we lose. Nice man. Bad coach.

Seemed like about 90% of the board was over Gentry at the end of last year. Then he got scrubs fighting for their NBA careers to play hard, and still lose games, and people flip flopped. It was really really weird.

Two of their starters left, including one of the best players in the entire league.

Gentry could win an NBA title this year and I’m not sure my opinion would change.

Oh, I agree. I don't think people over Gentry as HC feel that way because of this game though.

I don't think anybody who is a regular poster on here thinks Gentry is a good coach. I doubt anybody changed their tune but when it was clear he wasn't getting replaced then everybody just accepted it. He's not getting fired anytime soon, no matter how bad we might want it. I'm just saying starting this thread after one game is useless and is an easy fall back on every loss.

I think their was a thread about Demps flying to Cali to meet with Gentry and I lost it. By the time he was hired I was in the acceptance phase.

I remember the list of guys Demps actually interviewed for the job came out and it was a joke. I think Gentry might actually be the only guy still in the league right now.

You gonna be a smart-arse after throwing out them being “defending champs” like this was the same group that won the title.

Gentry clearly isn’t going to be the guy who will be coaching when it’s our time to really contend. But there isn’t really a reason to let him go right now. I’m 99.9% sure he knows his main job right now is to let the team grow together and be a stable veteran presence, and then move into a front office role whenever we hire the guy that replaces him.

saying they are the defending champs isn't being a smart arse. I wasn't trying to say they are as good as they were last year but they are still a good team that literally hung a banner tonight.

It is? How often has he put it together over a 30 year career?

Mid fourth quarter lineup was objectively bad, but overall I think he did very good. Plus you have to consider that the team came in not looking like a team with more roster turnover than almost any team in the league without their prize rookie on top of playing a savvy veteran team with multiple hall of famers.
