Davis generally plays like he doesn’t give a damn anymore, while the Pelicans look complete on paper if Williamson is healthy.
This line made me chuckle

And I’m trying not to tempt fate here but even if Zion bolts, we have the assets to get another huge piece and compete.

from hollinger's mock draft:
quote:
Will the Trail Blazers and Pelicans be making picks No. 7 and No. 8? "Regardless, it seems increasingly likely this part of the draft will go either Daniels-Sharpe or Sharpe-Daniels."

Yeah the thing with Dieng is he's supposedly a hard worker and he actually showed massive improvement in season, which are always the signs I look for in players.
Guys who's off-the-court effort translates to on-the-court improvement in higher-skilled, fundamental areas are always solid indicators to me.
That's why Daniels and Dieng are more intriguing to me than guys like Hayes when he was coming out. They already do things at a level, with a high IQ, above their age, and have shown improvement in weaknesses.

Just a side discussion but are there any guys at 41 you guys like IF the pels actually keep the pick?

Jalen Williams Santa Clara …. Though he probably won’t be there

Honestly, haven't really looked beyond the 20ish or so mocked guys, especially cause unless we trade out or up, I very much expect us to select the identical twin prospects for each pick: Cash Considerations.

No telling who falls or who rises yet.
Based on projected 2nds I’m seeing, Jaylen Williams (C, Arky), Wendell Moore (SF, Duke), Andrew Nembhard (PG, Gonzaga), Bryce McGowans (SG, Nebraska), and Caleb Houstan (SF, Michigan) all seem like they have potential.
Williams’ comp is Nance.
Moore’s comp is Ron Harper.
Nembhard’s comp is Grevis Vasquez
McGowans’ comp is Latrell Sprewell
Houstan’s comp is a lesser Mike Dunleavy

Almost no chance he falls to 41, but Patrick Baldwin is someone I would take a flyer on in the second round.
Seems like a good kid with insane upside that had a bad run in college due to still not being fully healed from injury and playing for his father that showed clear favoritism in the worst ways and probably further hurt him as a prospect.

Mock I used to make this list actually had us getting Baldwin at 41.
I didn’t put him on there because they couldn’t really project what they thought he would be at the next level.

Well, if that played out I'd be down.
Was a top recruit coming out of High School, and like Jaden Hardy and Emoni Bates, severely underperformed, but especially in Baldwin's case, there are some elite measurables and potential skills to work with and reasons to believe his college production wasn't a good indication of his pro potential.

Main deal is that if he drops, we need to flip someone along the lines of Temple to create a roster spot so we can sign him.

Sirius NBA radio was discussing Jalen Williams from Santa Clara as a potential late lottery pick. He for sure won’t be there at 41, unfortunately.

Yeah, I got confused on that too because that JW is considered a borderline pick around 12 while the other one, from Arky, is a 2nd rounder.

Peyton Watson for all of the reasons listed for Baldwin. Top recruit with good measurable who underperformed at the next step. Good upside swing

There’s like 20 Jalens and Jadens of some kind in this draft as well
