Yeah it’s my fault for bringing jalen Williams name up … a couple months ago I was listening to the radio and they had him an early second round guy and was talking him up … guess he has done alot since than and shot way up the board

And Givony now has us picking Dieng at 8. I’m noticing a pattern.

Dieng is probably the last of his tier that I'd want. We had so much smoke revolving around Sochan, what happened?

I haven't heard any smoke around Sochan, other than people thinking/saying that he'd be a good fit. Which may be a good thing, maybe it's intentionally quiet around us and him.

If Daniels end up going 7th, I can see Dieng as an option If they want that archetype as he is similar to Daniels but even longer with a higher ceiling.

Not really draft rumor, but general NBA gossip:
Per WOj
Would really shake up the league, and tbh, if I'm Durant, I probably would ask out.
He's 33, already had some major injuries, not getting any younger, and his best bet to truly get the monkey off his back of being labeled a coattail rider would be getting sent to an organization and helping them win one.
Per WOj
quote:
The sum of the franchise's deepest fears: Irving walks, and Kevin Durant wants a trade.
Irving's impenetrable connection to Durant looms as a domino to the dismantling of the roster. Brooklyn is straddling the narrowest of walkways: Keeping conviction on Irving's contract talks and keeping Durant's desire to stay a Net.
quote:
For anyone to say with absolute confidence that Irving wouldn't choose the Lakers' $6 million taxpayer exception over his guaranteed $36 million with Brooklyn, well, it would just be a guess.
There are teams rooting for Irving to opt-out and walk away from the Nets, believing it would give them a chance to cobble together trade packages to acquire Durant.
As much as Durant asking out hangs over the Nets, there's also the reality that four years on his contract will mean he has little, if any, voice on when or where he would be traded. This would be a small-market team's dream, robbing a goliath of an MVP-level talent whose contractual circumstances would leave him little choice but to play for them.

Get Like Coop theorized this yesterday based on the Kyrie situation spinning out of control.
What I wonder is where Durant ends up and how that affects us.
He clearly isn’t coming here.
Lakers don’t have the assets.
He won’t go to the Bucks.
I’m just hoping he stays in the east.

First leaking who he's interested in and now this. Kyrie and KD putting the full court press on the Nets for Kyrie's money.

I’d say to bottom out and rebuild.
Problem is that I looked at their picks owed.
Swap next year, Houston pick in 24, swap in 25, Houston pick in 26, etc.
So yeah that ain’t happening.
That being said, Durant IS under contract for long term so there are limits to the bullshite he can pull.

They'd literally be back to the strategy they had to use after their last attempt at building a big three, which is try and be the unloading point for teams wanting to get off contracts in exchange for young talent/picks.

The definition of insanity is doing something multiple times and expecting it to change.
Not sure how they expected Hardin, Kyrie, and Durant to work considering Hardin’s washed, Kyrie is nuts, and Durant was missing a year due a torn Achilles.

Dyson Daniels and Bennedict Mathurin appear to be the Pelicans’ top targets at No. 8. If neither are available, New Orleans would be more inclined to explore trade back opportunities, per @JakeLFischer.
This seems like the right move, and if the offers aren’t there take Sochan.

Why the frick do we need Durant if we have BI?
Durant’s great but he’s getting on in age, owed a ton of money, and tore his Achilles a few years back.

One of these guys is washed harden and the other finished top 5 in MVP (booker).
PER 21.3 TS .576 WS 7.6 WS48 .156 BPM 4.1 VORP 3.6
PER 20.9 TS .583 WS 7.6 WS48 .152 BPM 4.1 VORP 3.7
these guys are what and what one is washed and one is first team all nba. It is funny how narratives work isn’t it

Changing tracks to the Kings for a second…
I’m watching a mock with trades and the Kings are mocked as having traded the 4 and Richuan Holmes for 11, a Dallas 1st in 23, a Knicks 1st in 24, Evan Fournier, and Immanuel Quickly.
That screams “sack of magic beans” to me. The Dallas 23 is going to be in the 20s and the Knicks 24 would likely be heavily protected.

That wouldn’t be to bad of a deal for the Kings. Quickly and Fox could be a deadly guard duo, although they still don’t have defense.

I’m thinking in terms of value for the 4th pick.
The drop from 4th to 11th in this draft is pretty massive.
The drop from 4th to 7th in this draft is nearly as bad.
A late first in 23 and a protected 24 don’t seem like a proper compensation no matter what you think of Quickley.
