No playoff implication for winning a division.

We play 0 games against the division in our last 10 during the playoff stretch and only 5 such games in the last 30 over the last 2 months.

Seems unnecessary at this point right?

Because it sure would be nice to have more division games down the stretch this year!!

Memphis is in our division and we play them during the upcoming homestand

Which could determine if we win the division record tiebreaker over Dallas

It used to make more sense but covid fricked it up by encouraging the nba to schedule games in geographic clusters or the same time several times in a couple weeks to limit new exposures

The point of Divisions was for travel purposes I suppose. Playing teams in your general vicinity more cutting down on the distances travelled.

At this point they are irrelevant.

Playoff implications of divisions is how you get 7-9 teams hosting 11-5 teams they may have lost to in the regular season. In any sport, it can create issues

Division record and winning your division are part of the tiebreak rules. It doesn’t really need to be in there though

Does winning your division not guarantee you a top 4 seed anymore?
