It does happen, but it's been very problematic for Brees on the road. Kind of the genesis for a lot of the overreactions Saturday night.

Another thing to note, is that while Brees did play pretty poorly in the first half, the play calling was atrocious too. It wasn't all on him. The run was working, and the playcalling shifted away from it.

Throwing on 1st down is fine, but forcing three straight throws was just stupid if you missed on the first one and were getting 5 yards a pop on runs. The missed passes on 1st and 2nd down put the Saints in obvious passing situations and that killed the drive.

Agreed. He's struggled a lot on the road for whatever reason. People want to gloss over it by claiming the home stuff is so great, but Brees and the Saints invalidated any great home play by not assuring themselves home field at least in the 1st game.

4 plays of note:

Add terrible underthrow to wide open Sproles that would have been 6 to the list. However, this was his first long pass of the game and the cold air affects ball flight and arm strength. I think he just wasn't dialed in yet. Also, if Sproles fights back to the ball, he gets a PINT call.

I agree interception was on Stills. Drew throws that ball because he trusts his guys and Stills should have made the play or at least prevented an INT.

Second INT, I have seen him throw that exact INT way too many times. Teams have keyed on his tendency to not see a dropping linebacker. I think he has thrown that same INT about 8 times in the past two seasons.

On forcing the ball to Graham. He only forced the issue that one time as I remember. Still it was terrible, into triple coverage, with no window, and could have easily been pick no. 3.

All that said, I kind of agree with you.

-The first interception: it was a risky throw, but the interception itself was really on Stills. If Stills keeps running his route upfield, maybe he catches, maybe he doesn't, but Williams doesn't catch it like he's fielding a punt. It's conjecture, but we've seen Stills come down with those balls before.

Agree with all but this. This INT was on Brees. He lives on the underthrow, and all the WR's know it. I don't necessarily have a problem with it being too far from the sideline, but it was a bad pass nonetheless.

At best, Stills could have continued full-bore in an effort to deflect the INT, but he shouldn't have had to do that.

That second interception pissed me off.

I mean, if a college QB made that pass, I'd saying "Are you blind?!"

Just fricking look, Brees.
The dude was just standing there.
It's like he's a dinosaur who can only see motion.

Brees just had a complete mental lapse

That's just it. I'm tired of these mental lapses. Drew needs to make it stop.

I'd bench him for one play to teach him a lesson, but, that's because I'm tough and would make a fantastic NFL head coach.

I'm just joking, of course.

Brees is an experienced professional. I'm quite sure that he is performing at his absolute maximum potential.

I'm quite sure that everything about Drew Brees dictates that the team gets 110 percent from him every second of every day. The Saints are getting his very best.

With regard to Drew Brees, the Saints can rest assured that Father Time is the only thing that will diminish Drew's level of performance. Drew will always play to his maximum potential.

Thats what I saw as well. Stills didn't have a chance for a catch but would of had a better chance to knock it away if he had stayed with his pattern. Was a under thrown ball by Brees.

I just want him to have a better clock in his head for pre-snap and in the pocket. His confidence leads to more sacks than he should take. Someone must have beat his arse in his past somewhere for throwing the ball away. If such a stat existed I would bet Drew would be at the top for least throw aways.

How bout diminished instead of invalidated? I'd go invalidated if they had missed the playoffs.

I'd love for them to play at home instead, obviously, but this is a great opportunity for this team.

He threw that exact same interception twice in one game against the Bucs (I think)

You can bet for sure the Hawks will do this, so we need to be able to counter
