But there very well could be a team flush with cap that could give him a 2 year, $70 mil deal. It isn't a long term commitment and give that team immediate playoff hopes if not championship aspirations.

not unreasonable...here are the teams who may want a stopgap QB next year (i.e. no true heir, 1 year wonder, or underperforming QB at this moment)

Broncos: 66mil
Bears: 58mil
Cards: 56.3mil
Browns: 48mil
49ers: 45mil
Redskins: 40.7mil
Vikings: 39.3mil
Buffalo: 35mil
Jets: 21mil
Chiefs: 4.7mil

quote:Complete speculation on my part, but I believe both sides are probably in the same ball park as far a what they both want, and can get a deal done within that time frame.I actually know. The sticking point is guaranteed money and length of contract, and they are not very close in regards to the numbers. quote:I would be surprised if a contract isn't done when FA hits next season. I would be shocked if he signs at all. What Drew really wants is to test the FA market and he's willing to play out his contract to do it. The Saints have tried like hell to get him locked in on an extension but Drew Money Brees would have nothing to do with it.
First, to think that any professional franchise would leak info to such an amateur blogger like you is laughable. Secondly, I am sure every 38 year old QB wants to play out his contract with no security of a contract and hit free agency at that age. I am sure he would much rather have a deal in place with the guaranteed money.
