We were out of challenges before the 1st quarter was over!

Could you imagine the shite storm after the Ingram fumble if turnovers weren't automatically under review.

Paytons problem is uses challenges as an opportunity to bitch and not really as a chance to overturn a call. frick YOU LOOK AT THE PLAY AND NO I DONT LIKE IT. Its a pride thing.

I was screaming at the TV until I realized they are automatically reviewed now. I was unaware of this rule change.

I appreciate payton's challenge. It was a pretty loud, frick you goodell, when they are made to look a-holes for such stupid arse rules.

I agree, I would rather Payton make a statement to the league and jeopardize the game by using all of our challenges in the first quarter.

You don't think Watson made a football move?

The rule is that you have to maintain clear possession through going to the ground when going out of bounds. He clearly did not.

It's an absolutely stupid rule, but it was, by the rules of the NFL, not a catch.

I thought they changed it to Initial Contact with the ground.

The nfl Head of officials defended an overturn of a call last week in the lions bears game where the guy was going to the ground but broke the GL first

There is no consistency

Edit: they did change it, from throughout to Initial

quote:

A player who goes to the ground in the process of attempting to secure possession of a loose ball (with or without
contact by an opponent) must maintain control of the ball until after his initial contact with the ground, whether in the
field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control,
there is no possession. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, it is a catch, interception, or
recovery. A player is considere

I highlighted the changes

I'd argue that the initial contact is the knees, and he had full control at that point. I have no idea why they made that change though and what it is supposed to fix

But Watson's was and should have been.

question to me still remains... How are you able to reach out for a first down with the ball in 1 hand if you had not had complete control of the ball first??????
