I can't stand Deke and the rest of WWL's boring lineup.
I never listen to the Point After anymore and definitely don't listen to the post game show after LSU games,I listen to Gameday with Charlie Hannagriff and Alan Risher .It is much better and informative show where the hosts are polite to their callers.

One guy last night made a comment about how our offense clicked when we had a guy in motion and seemed stagnant when we don't. Which, in fact, is a really good point and I was interested in listening to him continue.. but Deke stops him, criticizes him for calling in to complain after a win. He's just a self-serving pompous arse who loves the sound of his voice

Went something like, the offense was clicking today though. We won, the offense was clicking, what is your point?
The point is, our offense gets stagnant regardless of a win or not. Lance Moore used to move in motion every single damn play for us.

He must have something wrong with him. There's no reason for a "radio personality" to be treating callers that way.
About my call not making the show, of course not. What makes or breaks the show is the host(s). Deke treating callers like assholes should be a legitimate concern for people advertising with the station. If people are in this thread saying they're tuning out, which they are, because of one host in particular, that should be a concern. Powerhouse, monopoly, or not.

Deke used to be very good on his local tangi parish show on Saturdays he talked high school football and was very good I learned a lot listening to him. It seems the promotion to 870 changed him. I turned it off last week when he was interviewing Stephon Anthony about his draft day experience and he started trying to act like a brother asking about the food and saying "y'all had a bawl going." That was it for me I do enjoy tbobs show but it comes on so late.

I used to like Deke in 2005, but he has certainly changed for the worse. God forbid you disagree with him, he will hang up on you and talk shite about you after the call.
When his program director gives him constructive criticism, I'm sure he doesn't take it well.
I'm not sure how long my call will last, but I'm going in dry tonight on the Purple and Gold Point After.

I'm yet to meet a person who really likes Deke. In fact, the vast majority of people that I encounter with an opinion on him don't just dislike him, but strongly dislike him. Is WWL oblivious to this?
I tuned in one day while passing through the area since I don't get to listen to WWL much anymore and he spent 15 minutes talking about his collection of Air Jordans. Guy is awful.

What I will turn into is his player interviews. I love how he tries to sound blacker than the player he's talking to. He even tried to speak soulfully with Roman Harper, who speaks more intelligently than anyone at 870. Hilarious.
Roman Harper should get into radio someday. He's great on the air.

Can't listen to him at all any longer! I listen to BR sports talk now. Deke needs to be run off in fact the whole WWL talk is a shite show!
