He will not fetch close to top 10 DB money.. At $17mil he would be the 20th highest paid CB and the 27th highest paid DB. That's before others get paid next offseason. Paying him $16mil puts him as the 32nd highest paid DB.
We can pay him $17mil and he wouldn't be a top 32 paid DB after DB contracts next offseason.
Alontae will get $13mil-18mil with $18mil on the high side. The top 10 DB's avg $25mil a year. Its not really close.

Bunch of jags?
Somehow this became a narrative on this board, but it simply isn’t true at all. The Saints defense is VERY talented. Davis is the best MLB in the league. Chase Young is a beast. Cam still produces. The secondary is talented and has depth. There are probably 20-25 teams that would gladly swap defensive rosters with the Saints.
