Anyone know what ATL gets back from releasing him?

Most all of the guaranteed money has already been paid. It saves them nothing this year, $3.9m in 2013, and $5m in each of 2014 and 2015.

And he doesn't bring any new dimension to our defense. He has a very similar skill set to Jordan, but maybe not even as good.

If he were an underperforming speed rusher, I'd say giving it a shot wouldn't be a bad idea.

Do you happen to know if they could have saved that money if they cut him after the end of the season but before a certain date next year?

If they could have realized those savings later down the road, then this move is basically saying they think they can find someone off the street or on a practice squad who can contribute more.

Yes. If they waited until next offseason they could have taken measures to spread it out even further, but cutting him May 31st would have had the same cap ramifications as cutting him now.

I missed his $3m option bonus this year, so

is actually closer to $1m, $5m, and $5m saved in each of the next three years.

That or a player on the roster that is typically inactive. I think that it's a bad move for a team that is all but guaranteed a playoff spot. If Biermann or Abraham go down, they'll be wishing they had him.

Let's trade Ingram for him!!!
We need more defensive players, not pre-madonna running backs!

Why go after him, he has 0 sacks on a team with as bad a pass rush as us. Which DEnd do we get rid of that is worse than the guy the Falcons cut?
To be honest, our front four showed a good bit of improvement in the last 2 games.

If the Falcons are paying his salary, why not? Would be quite poetic if he has his best game when we play them again on Nov 29th. Then we would have beaten them AGAIN but this time with 2 of their former Def players.

Yeah, we could definitely make a trade with the Falcons for Edwards, even though they've released him.

Also, I think Goodell will probably throw us a bone and let us perform a trade after the deadline.

Maybe he was a cancer in the locker room.

Maybe he said the Saints actually beat them this weekend and it wasn't the Falcons just giving the game away.

Not sure I could be more obvious. Let me try again.

Let's sign him to play SF for the Hornets so Payton can work with him until next year because basketball players make the best football players.
