No doubt. I still would have taken Jenkins....even had Young and Thomas been released before the draft. Its just my argument yesterday would have sucked without them.

I agree with you tubucoco, but 14 was too high to take Jerry. As much as I think DT was our second position of need, this team couldn't pass up a player like Jenkins at 14.
Not that I am surprised by the Young/Thomas cuts, it does leave me with some concern for the position. I think the Dorsey trade is just wishful thinking, but it would be nice. He's not a 3-4 DT; he just doesn't have the size for it.

take the to be out of the thread title
done
The New Orleans Saints released veteran DT Hollis Thomas, a league source told Scout.com. The source said the move was made on Tuesday and showed up on the inter-league transaction wire, but the team has yet to announce the move.
The affable defensive lineman had two years left on his contract and the team will save $1.4 million of salary cap space with Thomas' release.
Thomas' job could have been deemed expendable after the Saints recently signed free agent DT Rod Coleman who played for new defensive coordinator Bill Johnson when both men were with the Atlanta Falcons. However, Coleman didn't play last season.

Now resign him for league minimum.

We got Ellis, Pressley, Coleman and Clancy. Spicer is a DT/DE hybrid. I remember the reason the Saints signed McCray last year was so they could get 3 pass rushers on the field on passing situation, so on third and longs McCray, Smith or Grant will probably occupy a DT position with Spicer or Ellis. It wouldn't surprise me if they signed one or two undrafted free agents to try and provide depth.

When Bryan Young was healthy, he was a pretty good defensive tackle.

Agreed. He played hard and was a good dude. He will be missed for sure.
Hell so well Hollis for that matter.

You don't think Edge is washed up?

Maybe we'll sign Hill, Edge and trade for Peppers with all these cuts.

We need a DT that can do backflips. The opponents will never see it coming.

I agree with the guy who said that Greg Williams is getting this defense leaner and quicker. I suspect we will be getting A LOT of pressure on the opposing quarterbacks this year...
Hopefully we'll be able to stop the run also!
