Looks like you need to heed your own advice. The bottom 3rd would be made up by a bunch of teams with 7 or fewer wins. The Saints absolutely finished in that group this year, but the progress made at the end of the year shows that this team is most likely better slotted in the middle 3rd (to use your grouping), which would have them 1-2 games on either side of .500.
Obviously, we have an entire offseason to watch to see if they continue to improve, or if they completely F it up.

If I had to guess probably just one game.
Maybe two if the Saints ended up being a lot better than everyone thinks coming into next year
Because of the ability to flex games.
I would not bet on that but you just never know.
