The race card BS gets old! If JW didn't throw almost as many INt's as TD's his last year at Tampa they wouldn't have gotten rid of him. He was very game managed last tear by Payton before he got injured, that kind of management will win some games (our defense) but will NOT get you to a Superbowl. I hope the Saints unleash him and he does well but if he reverts to same old JW from Tampa ,it will be time to cut bait!

I'm far from sold on Winston, but I found this interesting...
Winston's int rate his last year in TB was 4.7% (age 25).
Brees' int rate in his age 24 season in SD was 4.2%
Not saying Winston will be Brees, but players can improve with age.
Also of note in Winston's last year at TB, he led the nfl in passing yardage and was 6th in yds/att. He was throwing downfield. His sack rate was really high too, so he was getting pressure... no wirfs like brady had

Maybe some of that had to do with the model organization that is Tampa no? He has also had eye surgery since then

Maybe it has something to do with their pasts? Brees is hands down the greatest player in franchise history. Winston’s past involved a season 30 INTs.
I was critical of Brees’s play down his last 1-2 years; meanwhile I am hopeful Winston can be good enough. But I also realize people are going to go out of their way to not criticize a guy (Brees) they admired for years thanks to what he did for the team. And regarding Winston, basically every non-elite QB in the league gets criticism. Kirk Cousins gets constantly shite on.

If a player isn't good enough to get the job done anymore they deserve criticism period. The fact that he is the best player in franchise history is irrelevant. Winston played well here last year and until he shits the bed here all this hate is either dumb or in some cases race based. Like I said I have talked to a few people who would prefer a "white qb" so it's not like I'm making this up

Here’s the thing. I agree with you 100% on this^ but you’re completely missing my point. What I’m talking about is NOT whether Brees deserved criticism or not. It’s why Winston was criticized whereas Brees wasn’t.
Sure for as many Saints as there are out there, there’s at least some racist ones. But you keep trying to pull the race card as if it explains why a significant % of fans do the above. It’s really because they have a soft spot for Brees BECAUSE he’s the Saint’s GOAT NOT because he’s white. They are critical of Winston because he’s not proven NOT because he’s black.
You don’t have to agree that this logic is the right way to think, but it much more likely it’s because of this rather then they’re racist. You talking to a “few people” is anecdotal. On THIS board (as much as I hate it at times) most people are not hating Winston because he’s black. Otherwise they wouldn’t be heaping praise on TM or Landry.

I’m not arguing in general, I’m arguing in this specific QB situation. So people were in favor of Brees because he’s white? Not because of his history? Now you may think that’s stupid but that doesn’t mean they don’t think that. It’s dumb to even drag Brees into this because he’s not even here anymore. Yet you’re doing that and using it as proof for your racism angle.
If Carson Wentz played here last year, people would have bashed him hard. Outside a few, almost nobody here wanted Jimmy G. Meanwhile you know how many Saints fans wanted Watson despite his multiple lawsuits? Lots

I read the post when we signed JW the first time and when we signed him for two years recently.
I have never read such brutal, hateful and sometimes of course funny post about any other Saint that I can remember.
Not one said it was because of the color of his skin. Would have been banned if they had.

I don’t see jameis as any race. Dude is weird creature of his own and I love it. Hope he proves everybody wrong. As someone mentioned in the other jameis thread, he just has a playful personality.
Dude has succeeded at the highest level of CFB with a playoff championship win. Tampa botched his talent. I have faith he will prove people wrong if he stays healthy.
