College rushing stats include yards lost on sacks

Rattler was sacked 96 times in college

Shough was sacked 49 times

This year is done and we are tanking for a legitimate qb. You guys are insufferable at this point.

I thought at least see what he’s got but if he couldn’t beat out rattler from the get go he’s likely not the answer either and he’s already 26

I stand by my statement.

Shough may be faster…but Rattler is the better runner.

I think that Rattler is more nimble in the pocket, in terms of avoiding and moving the pocket. He has improved in that area……but I don’t think he is a better runner.

I believe either way, we have two athletic QBs…….which I like. BUT fans tend to be retards (not talking about you) and claim “ you have to have a running QB now”. It really shows that they don’t know what they’re talking about. You DO need someone athletic enough to manipulate the pocket, but you don’t have to have a running QB.

I definitely wouldn’t call Goff, Baker, Darnold, Purdy, Stroud, Rodgers, or any of these types of QBs “running QBs”. They are all successful to some degree, and Goff may be the least mobile QB in the league lol.

The issue with a “running QBs” is that most of them have relied heavily on their high level athleticism (understandably), and their accuracy is usually lacking. It took Josh Allen a little while to fix his mechanics to get that part of his game right. Lamar has improved that area somewhat, but I still wouldn’t say he’s an accurate passer……but he’s Lamar. Hurts is still not a good QB, if he couldn’t run while being built like a LB……..he wouldn’t even be a starter.

All of that to say, many times (not all of course) these running QBs get injured often……and when that electric athleticism starts to fade, they are terrible because they are not good passers.

What people should really want is a good QB who is athletic, instead of a great athlete that plays quarterback. Big difference there.

Sorry, kind of went on a tangent there lol

It’s just something that I keep seeing from fans, and it has been irritating me

Could be protecting him, he knows this team is not going anywhere.

Rattler has as many rushing first downs as AK41. Tied for 4th most for QBs in the NFL at 16. 57% of his attempts have resulted in 1D. Not a volume runner but definitely instinctual and efficient

K

What is your point in all this?

Rattler is the guy? We should never see a guy they spent the 40th pick on?

And, he's shown a pretty consistent ability to make defenders miss. That's not common for a QB. I'd be very surprised if Shough is as capable of a runner. I suspect he may be faster in a straight line. But, that's probably it.

I don't care about any isolated stats or any of that bullshite

We haven't won. We aren't winning. They picked a guy 40th

Did the other guy do enough to show he should start the next 2-3 years?

If not, then let the other guy play the last few games of the season and then we see where we are.

That's as complex as the argument needs to be

No big deal. Moore knows what he’s doing.

What the point of commenting on his rushing prowess in a conversation about QB rushing? Escapability is important given the state of our OL and us having third worst pocket time in the league

Shough’s numbers are terrible when pressured but he did have the lowest sack % of QBs in the draft. So while he is not accurate under duress, he does have the capability to elude rushers

Rattler is Moore’s guy. It’s pointless cry about it, we can’t control it. Rattler is the current guy so that’s the topic of conversation for me. Y’all gotta get tired of arguing about this shite. Yes we should see what we have in Shough.

After the Bye week if we do not see Shough then it will be concerning.

This team is not ready to insert a QB (any QB) and win. They'll make the change but when they do there will be no arguing that they didn't give Rattler enough time to win. This has been plan from the start. My personal feeling is they are trying to build up Rattler to possibly trade him for a late round pick because IMO he won't be on the team next season Unless Shough lights it up and clearly proves he is that guy, then I can see them sticking with Rattler as a #2, But if they draft another QB or sign and journeyman vet QB, Rattler is out.

It’s really not an indictment on Shough that Moore chose Rattler. Rattler is just ticking pertinent boxes for Moore

We should remember that when Shough gets his crack, QB development is not linear. And that good coaching will always weigh the process over the results

That would be the absolute dumbest thing this team can do. We drafted a QB in the 2nd rd that's yet to start a game.

There are no legitimate QBs in this draft. If we just draft one to compete we are setting this team back. We have more pressing needs. If there was a Maholmes, Manning etc I'd agree. But there's not. We need too many positions to fix this shite. QB is way down the list without even seeing Shough play.
