That is f'ed up. Are you getting half of the profits?
Posted on 8/30/10 at 4:06 pm to MSTiger33
You couldn't afford the tickets without this couple in the first place correct?
they paid you for their half?
Then don't concern yourself with what they do with their half.

Just because the tickets are under their name doesn't mean it solely his. It was their decision to go 50/50, the other couple has 50% ownership which means they can do whatever the frick they want with their tickets.
Nope. Season tickets are a license that can be revoked at any time by the licensor. The wife is actually 100% owner of the license.
That being said, the couple should be cool and give half of the profit. You offered them first choice to the tickets, but was not required to give them this choice. Another option is to take the entire profit and use it towards the purchase of next year's tickets.

You agreed to split the cost of the tickets 50/50, and to allot the tickets 4 games a piece.
There is no agreement to first offer tickets for sale to the other party.
There is no agreement to split profit on the amount made on the sale of tickets.
If the other party paid its full share to acquire the tickets, they have a right to 4 games, according to your agreement. Without the money they provided, you would not be able to acquire the season tickets otherwise. They are full partners in this endeavour.
You chose not to attend the Vikings game and gave the tickets to them. This was your choice. If you wanted to go to that game bad enough, you wouldn't have given them over.
Those tickets now belong to them.
They are free to sell them.
Nothing is stopping you from selling any of the tickets that you have rights to, regardless of whether they want to attend a particular game that you have the tickets for. The same right applies to them.
I stress again that you would not have the season tickets without their money contributed to the cause. You paid half the amount of the season tickets expecting to have tickets to half the games. You did not pay half the amount of the season tickets for four games PLUS the right to tell the other party what to do with the tickets.
If the tickets are in your name, then you have the power to choose whether or not to partner with them NEXT year or not. I would suggest not doing so, if they make you upset.
However, this year is said and done. They paid up, you delivered tickets. That is the extent of the agreement.
If you want more power than your 50% payment of the tickets allows for... put it in writing and make the other party acknowledge it BEFORE entering the agreement.
You can't change an agreement AFTER the deal becomes advantageous to the other party. You have the same right as they do to profit from selling your ticket, according to your arrangement.
It seems to me that your arrangement is actually functioning exactly as it was drawn up. There is no problem here.

I agree with this.
Next year, though.
This year... too late. They paid in 50%. Fair is fair, regardless of how it makes you feel.

With that train of thought, dude should go frick his wife. Fair is fair.

I would also inform the guy that if he expects this little arrangement to continue next year he'd better re-think this decision (he may not care). You need to at least confront him about it, especially if it's a friend.

It depends on if they have a prior arrangement to where that's allowed as a matter of course in dividing the tickets. If so, I say, frick away.

you could have bought the tickets outright, sold the 1st game and made most of your money back. Prob at least half of what u paid, depending on the seats

I agree with everyone who says it's his right. I don't feel screwed over. I feel more like they went against the spirit of being a fan. I wouldn't miss that game for anything if I had the choice. We knew the risk when we split the tickets but its what we had to do to get them.
Hindsight, we could have sold one or two games and paid for the year but it is what it is. I just feel like they went against the spirit of being a season ticket holder.
The new information that I got this evening is that they aren't going because they won a chance to appear in some video at a concert that Taylor Swift and DMB are filming while they are in town (I don't know what the hell that means, but it means that they are choosing that over the game).

They chose Taylor Swift and DMB over the Vikings/Saints. WTF your buddy needs to check to see if he still has his balls.
