the only ones I can think of when I was growing up that were elite... I guess Shannon Sharpe and Tony Gonzales.
but for his size, you would have to compare him more to Gonzo. I think Antonio Gates is pretty good too but I've never seen someone like Jimmy before.
and he's the #1 option.

His numbers are already insane and he's on a team with 5-6 options at any given time for Drew to throw to.

I just think it's a stretch to say he is "much more talented" than Gronk. I love Jimmy but they are neck and neck IMO

Jimmy graham is the prototype!
He is the equivalent of megatron at tight end.
Jimmy is a full 6'7, with 4.55 speed, a 38 inch vertical, and monster wingspan. He bulldozes lb's and db's, and falls forward for extra 3-5 yards consistenly.
Oh yeah, he's also 260-270, and looks big compared to most of our O-lineman when he's on the line. His blocking is excellant despite lack of experience, because he has elite arm length.
Yes he is the most talented by far imo

Gonzalez is pretty well known to be at least one of, if not the, greatest pass blocking tight ends of all time
He is an above average-good pass blocking TE but is far, far from the best pass blocking TE of all time.
Someone tried to say the same thing about Gronk. They are better than Graham but they are far from the best at blocking.

To say he is the most talented to play the game is not assessing a body of work. As someone said, he only played a few seasons.
Let's see how consistent, how hard he continues to work, and how much he will give to win.
I will never forget the image of Kellen Winslow being carried off the field. That to me is an iconic image of being one of the best TEs.
BTW, I want Graham to be the best ever when he retires in 10 years.

False. He is limited as a blocker in comparison to graham, because he is shorter in height, and has less arm length. Arm length is a big part of dominating OT's game.
Plus, gronk has had 2 lumbar spine surgeries! If you know anything medically, you would understand the significance of this.

That's overstating. He is better no doubt but he is not great(good yes) at it and Jimmy isn't bad at it. Graham has become an average blocker and with more work is only going to improve.
That is where his lack of football experience shows.

I'm just telling you about production.
You can debate with his numbers all you want.

So did Antonio Gates. And he took his team to the Elite 8.
And he had the "best TE ever" moniker too.
Let's wait a while before we jump to conclusions.

Aaron Hernandez, while not as big, is just as athletic, stronger and has proven track record.

i've never seen Graham play but I'd almost bet that his coordination and feel for the game of football isnt anywhere near what Gates'
