I dunno... left tackle for a third round pick (maybe?) and a late round pick?

Doesn't sound like a deal I would be interested in if I were the Saints.

It kind of sounds like they were desperate to get rid of him.

People aren't taking into account that Brown's health is starting to fall apart(bad knees and bad back). He wasn't going to fetch a lot in return like many thought.

Regardless of the injuries piling up, this is a two-time pro bowler. To only get a third or fourth round pick for him is a give away in my opinion. I know we didn't really need him, but that doesn't mean we had to give him away.

If your injuries are piling up no team is going to want to give a lot in return for you especially coming off a full season on IR.

well, i guess. it just I was expecting a little better. i guess him not playing last year hurt the trade value a bit along with the surgeries.

i just dont think the Saints had many suitors for him.

he was disgruntled. The Saints were tired of it. so they got rid of him for whatever they could

I still think his potential production next season would have been more likely to outweigh the return we will get from a mid-to-late round draft pick.

What about the potential distraction and negative influence he could have on team chemistry?

This. I'm thinking it may be a money move. They have the highest payroll in the NFL and this move saves them $3.5m.

A player that will be playing in his contract year after coming off an IR season. Whether he would be happy or not, the dude would have busted his fricking arse to get paid

What do you care? He wouldn't have been under contract after next season, so if he did get hurt, you and all people like you would be just as happy.
