That was easy to say then. During the draft, people couldn't understand the Molden pick. Wayyyy too high and it was said then.

then we were listening to different people...
i don't have time to do the research, but can anyone pull up the grades on the Saints draft from that year... it wasn't very good, then or now...

IMO at no time was Alex worth being picked where he was. Esp. when you consider Eddie George, among others, was on the draft board at the time the Saints picked.

If I remember correctly, people thought Molden was a reach, but we needed a CB so they were ok with it. I think people were more excited about picking Je'Rod Cherry and Brady Smith.
Damn... We passed on Eddie George, Ray Lewis, Brian Dawkins, Johnathan Ogden, Lawyer Maloy and Eddie Kennison.

ok.. don't see where you get this from... Alex Molden was never a first round pick.. do some research... MOST people, thought this was a horrible pick at this position. Couple that with there coveted second round pick of JeRod Cherry, or however you spell his name, and the Saints were one of the Day one laughers at the '96 draft... AT THAT TIME.. looking back at it now, the same holds true....
There are tons of examples of people that were drafted lower than other that did better than those drafted before them..
During the Colston draft, or even right after it, there was nobody saying "boy we shoulda drafted Colston in the fourth"... we can say that now, but not then....
the Molden draft you could see it then!!!

Unless he's using the "take the best player available" approach, in which the Saints should trade down and get a later first and maybe a second round pick out of that deal to take either of those two LBs.
Personally, I would like us to trade down and take a Safety with the first pick, and use a later pick on a LB and CB.
Who is the best Safety available?
After watching the playoffs this year how valuable is Polamalu and Ed Reed? The safety position is our weakest link.

so that means we shouldnt take a CB this year?

no, thats not what that means.... it means the saints sucked in the '96 draft is all... didn't do a good job evaluating talent.. it they were going to pick Molden they should have traded down to get xtra picks.. it still now would look like a bad pick, b/c he sucked. but it would have been better than pickin him at 11.....

i don't know if JL or BC fit what we need at LB
JL is an undersized MLB, and we have a MLB
BC is more of a 3-4 rush LB than a true WLB
I agree that I am on the fence with JL and BC, but in his draft Rey Maualuga is available. If he is there I hope we take him and not look back. I couldn't imagine Dunbar, Vilma, and Maualuga out there at linebacker.....that is a hard hitting crew.

Mays stayed and as of now Moore is the highest rated. I would much rather our little free agency money we will have go towards Dawkins from Philedelphia or Landry from Baltimore. Skip draftiong a safety and get either a linebacker, cornerback or Chris "Beanie" Wells.

Am I the only one that thinks Kiper is retarded for the following:
28th pick Philadelphia (from Carolina) Michael Oher OT Mississippi
unless Oher runs a 8.8 40 and scores a 2 on the wonderlic I just do not see any way in hell he falls to 28

I wouldn't be suprised to see Peyton draft Greene or another running back at #14. The Saints need help at the RB position. Now everyone knows that we need help on defense but you got to be smart with this pick. If you are not getting quality at CB or Safety then you have to look at LB. If your not satisfied you have to take a RB IMO,

Myth,Fail,ect... Your the biggest zero on this board. You think calling people a retard makes you smart. If you can't write or think on your own then refrain from the conversation. Get a life or better yet take your life and jump off a bridge you clown. Do you know what Peyton is going to do with his draft pick? No you dont so stop acting like you know anything about football, sports, or life in general. No one knows who the pick is going to be but its fun to speculate and discuss. If you disagree with my post then fine but to call me a retard with your lack of logic makes you look uneducated to say the least. Now go play somewhere else, boy.
