Dude... you’ve embarrassed yourself enough. He keeps roster spots open by being able to fill in anywhere. He’s your 3rd QB. He’s your 5-6 WR (for us maybe 3-4 really). 3-4th RB/FB. He’s the role of two special teams guys. He allows you to carry more guys on the team that can specialize

1) They refused to play the multi-role position that Hill played. Even though Kordell played it for a couple years, he eventually put his foot down. None of the played special teams gunner that I am aware.
2) He has a strong arm, but he has not demonstrated that he is a viable threat to complete passes on a consistent basis. Taysom is 6-13, 119 yards, 0 TDs and 1 Int and 3 years in has not shown he is capable of being accurate or having the mental processing to be considered a QB.

That style of play can be very effective, but the drawback is that the player would have a short playing career relative to QB, or even a true WR. Less overall money in the long run. It's exceedingly tough to find a guy capable of doing what he does, and willing to do it.

Go back and look at that link, several of those throws (to Mike Thomas in particular) are QB throws. 20-30 yd ropes to guys in the middle of the field.
But no, Taysom is not going to be the starter here. If the next starter is on the roster, it's Jameis. Taysom is the guy that gives you the ability to run a college-like running QB offense, for several plays or a series a game. He's a talented enough athlete that you have to prepare for him as a TE in a route, and when you shift him over to QB he throws things into flux. You don't need a Brees passing ability, you need to throw off the defensive assignments in that role.
Go back and look at the LSU-Bama 9-6 game in 2011. Bama was totally prepped to shut Lee down, LSU was never going to move the ball with him that game. Throw JJ in, he's running and the occasional pass, and Saban's throwing a fit because his defense, great though it was, was bending. That's why LSU won that game.
I think they're wanting to groom Stevens to take over that role, and let somebody take Hill off their hands for a trade or compensatory pick.

When you are only allowed a 53 man roster, and have a guy like Hill that can do so many different things, it makes you that much more valuable.

Jimmy Graham has a contract worth $16 mil, he's had 5 TDs in the last 2 years.

As good as Hill is, I don't think you pay him that money if you don't think he is going to be a QB going forward.
He isn't an every down skill position player and that a good amount of money. Top 10 RBs money.
Now are you getting pretty good value when you consider what we are paying him and what we are paying Winston? yeah

This is a weird melt op, you're trying to discredit the guys overall talent because you don't want him to be the qb of the future..why

That’s what I think, too. I was taken aback by that number. I think it only makes sense if 1) Brees has pretty much told Sean that this is it and 2) they are prepared to give Hill every opportunity to be QB1 in ‘21.

No, but I think he’s gonna play a ton more than he has previously. I expect his role to be similar to what it was toward the end of last season and the Vikings playoff game. I think they made that pretty obvious when they didn’t draft a WR. I know we signed Sanders, but we lost Ginn, so the WR numbers will be the same as last year. Unless they anticipate Smith finally making a jump to be a reliable #3 or Butler becomes the 1st WR training camp hero to actually translate to the field in the regular season, Hill may be on the field more often than not.
On the other hand, how do you adequately groom a 31-year-old guy who’s only thrown 13 career passes when he’s taking reps at WR/TE/H-back/RB? I guess we’ll see.
