We almost released the guy outright, and folks are going to bitch about it being a fifth?

Better than just releasing him....

The only reason id be unhappy, is if we could have got a 5 th rounder from an afc team and passed it up

Philly will flop next year anyway. Nobody in the NFC East ever repeats.

McCoy and Sproles will be hard to defend if they're on the field at the same time.

Sproles is a good fit for what Philly does, but I am still surprised they acquired him with them already having Mccoy, Brown, Jackson, and Maclin.

You'll never know.

Foles will be sacked if they're on the field at the same time.

McCoy is hard to defend alone. Add Sproles and all you need is a retired Vilma to defend his slow, overrated arse. Now his wife? That's hard to defend with her fithy whore mouth

More importantly, I believe this takes Black Mamba off their draft board

Joel Corry @corryjoel The Saints create $3.5M of cap room by trading Darren Sproles. There's $750,000 in dead money with him.
This guy lists himself as a "contracts and salary cap expert"

I was hoping for a higher pick, but fifth is fine.

Glad for the 5th...but man, thought we could have gotten a 4th with how many teams were interested.
Maybe we do some draft day trades with 2 5th rounders now.

22nd pick in the 5th round, 150th overall.

If by perfect you mean unable to break tackles and no longer a big play threat.....not to mention taking touches away from Shady then yes.
This times a million. I have not understood the overhyped love for Sproles over the last year or so. The wind can knock him down. He's a one trick pony and that trick isn't even that great anymore. I'm pretty stunned there's been a lot of interest reported for sproles. Great for the Saints though. Just makes you wonder how much game film is being watched out there.

Hell don't doubt the staff just yet. Who knows who they walk away using that pick on. I know all late picks aren't that great but don't forget Brady was a 6th rounder so
