How did Mahomes not get mentioned?

At the time, in the in-game draft thread, people were on their knees thanking the football gods we took Lattimore over Mahomes.

People would have absolutely MELTED if the Saints had taken Mahomes over Lattimore considering the state of the roster at that point and the fact Lattimore was considered a top 5 prospect that fell really far AND we hadn’t had an elite CB in a long time

The last time the Saints picked the player I hoped they would in the 1st round might be Reggie Bush in 2006.

It predates this board, but Eddie George over Alex Molden

That's one of those picks that still haunts me. I remember watching the draft gleefully thinking,

" we are getting Eddie, we are getting Eddie "

Then they announced Molden.

Later I was told, that the look on my face was like someone had just kicked my dog.

I was hoping we would have taken a slightly used traffic barrel over Jonathan Sullivan in 2003.

The traffic barrel would have been more helpful on stopping the run.

Man that draft sucked. Didn't like the trade when they first announced it.

Gave up two 1st rd picks to move up , what, 11 spots for one player?

I thought we learned our lesson from Ricky Williams. ??

We would still miss out on Troy Polamalu, but could have had Willis Magahee, Nnamdi Asomugha, and Dallas Clark , among some other good players.

I was begging for banks last year and almost shite myself when that’s actually who they picked. This year I know I’ve heard Love and Bain wished for the most. I desperately hope it’s not Bain.

Same here. Im scared his skills won’t translate to the NFL well enough to warrant an 8 overall

Agree. I feel like he takes way too many plays off and will just totally blend in and be very average in the nfl. Wouldn’t be the worst pick but he’s not even in top 10 of guys I’d take at 8. To each their own but he’ didn’t impress me at all in MOST game. He did look elite in the playoff though I’ll give him that.
