New Orleans has no winners left in the city now.

New Orleans has nothing left ... Mardi Gras sucks now, french quarter sucks now, Saints about to suck, Pelicans suck

It seems the only redeeming thing about New Orleans is the Saints and now even CSP wants to GTFO.
I know it didn't necessarily start with Cantrell, but she does nothing to help NOLA. NOLA is a victim of a long line of complete garbage leadership. It really is a shithole city.

In everyday terms, what Sean Payton did was trash all the long term client accounts betting on short term, one off bonuses. Then when it didn't work out, says he is taking some time off to find himself.
Who hasn't dealt with somebody in business like that?
I don't know if he is a coward but I think he set this team up for longterm failure with how they managed the cap and then when their big bets didnt pan out for whatever reasons...
lol I retire.
What better way to protect your legacy then run from those 7-10, 8-9 finishes the next four years while the roster sorts itself out.

quote:Oh how terrible. When he took over the Saints were historically the worst organization in the NFL. He not only brought in a first ballot hall of fame QB but he also won a Super Bowl. But yeah those 7-9 seasons totally negate all of that. He really sucked and the Saints are fortunate he’s retiring
too forgot about 3 straight 7-9 seasons

This sucks. We were lucky to have a coach if his caliper for a long time.
He’s going to coach again and it won’t be for us and it’ll suck arse

1979 was the New Orleans Saints first non-losing season with a record of 8-8. Saints fans were absolutely celebratory and excited for a playoff run the next season, only to suffer the worst season in franchise history at 1-15. It wasn't until 1987 that the Saints had their first winning season at 12-3.
Prior to the arrival of Sean Payton, the Saints had a grand total of five (5) winning seasons over 39 years. In Sean Payton's 15 seasons as active head coach, the Saints totaled ten (10) winning seasons and never had a record worse than 7-9.
In the 39 years before Payton arrived in 2006, the Saints totaled four (4) seasons in which they scored 370 points or more. Under Payton, the Saints exceeded that total fifteen (15) times.

My first season as a fan. I was just 5 and didn’t know much but watched every game and still remember falling asleep with tear stains on my pillow.
Everyone was ready to run off Brees. How did that work out? Now the Payton haters are in full bloom. Makes me think they never went through a 1-15 season, and the seasons afterwards. 06 and beyond saints fans have no real clue how bad it can get.

this 100%
like all the stock market geniuses that have only been investing since 2010 or so
They did not win enough titles for as good a teams as they had under Payton, no doubt, but the idea that some other coach would be better is nonsense

You people are worthless.
It's obvious Paytons success was due to Brees. Dennis Allen is going to be a great HC for the Saints.
Some people are so far behind in the race they actually believe they're leading.

Payton isn’t stupid he knows what in front of him here and doesn’t have it in him to fix it. I call it opting out. I don’t think he has lost his competitive drive. I think he sees all these young stud QB and we might not have one in Jamies.
I hope with all my heart Jamies becomes what everyone thought he was and we kick some arse without him and Brees.

I didn’t want to be the one to bring it up but you have to think this was a factor. The city has regressed and it doesn’t appear to be turning a corner any time soon. On top of it all, your organization is fighting with the local mayor to have fans attend games. May as well add in the fact that even the owner of the team was carjacked so it can happen to anyone around the city and I’d venture to say he prob felt he didn’t have to prove anything further to the fanbase so it was time. He can take a break and then handpick the next best opportunity for him.
I don’t know many folks that would stay if they made 7-10 million over the last 5-6 years of their life while in NO, and have the option to step away from their career for a year with the knowledge that they can return to that job at a place with better facilities, a safer location and little to no interference from politicians.
