keep in mind that nobody knew what was going to happen to new orleans and also keep in mind that benson was trying to sell tickets in san antonio.
Media hyperbole. New Orleans was going to come back. Anyone really think everyone would just bolt?

How were the saints games in tiger stadium? How many people actually showed up? I'm talking atmosphere wise .

Who cares? It's ridiculous that someone would "never cheer for a team" because of that reason.

Tell me about it! He's the type of prick that texts people every bad play or penalty call. Its fricking aggravating!

He had to explore all of his options. There was no guarantee he would have a city much less a stadium to come home too. It's a business, a lot didn't return to NOLA
That being said, I think I would have lost my mind, literally, if they left
well said.

Just curious, but how old are you and how long have you lived in new orleans?

I'm 35 and have lived here most of my adult life. And, yes, media hyperbole. I was here for Katrina, it was bad, but never was there a serious question about whether the city would come back.

He did do everything he could to move the team but he never insulted anyone. Tagliabue saved us. Anyone who says otherwise is ignorant.

I have a friend that hates Benson and the Saints but that's because his dad worked on the grounds crew at the practice facility for years and was electrocuted moving a goal post. From what I understand, Benson did nothing for his widow and son.

There's a big group of people, mostly the older folks, who will just never like Benson for what he almost did.

I deleted a two redneck friends on facebook within a week over stupid Saints issues they had. One made a racist comment about N.O. and the Saints. Another made two or three post about fema rebuilding the Saints owned superdome and how much he hated the Saints because of it. So much stupidity in that one.
Hmm I think we have the same racist Cowboy fan friends from LSU

That was the lone game I attended (although I think I bought the whole silly "package"). NOBODY was cheering on Saban. Place was like a morgue, though. Just an all around depressing experience.

listed by many people including myself as some of the worst games in that thread.
The Dolphins game was one of the worst sporting events ive ever seen live or otherwise.

the atmosphere in Tiger Stadium for the Saints games were absolutely awful. People are forgetting just how hostile things got post-Katrina; Benson did say some rough stuff. Overall, it wasn't south Louisiana's finest hour; it was kinda like being in a war zone.
