Second Round Tender: $2,916,000

I go this route.

I think he is worth risking this cash on. Depth was an issue this year. And if someone does sign him, get a 2nd round pick.

Delvin is a good player. Def would like to re-sign him.

I'll do the second round tender! After seeing him shut down julio when he's fully healthy, how many corner in the draft let along the draft can do that? Not many! So keep him best case scenario he cracks the starting line up with lattimore! Worst case he becomes our 3rd cornerback.

I saw that Bridgewater may have to stay with Minnesota for another year since he was on IR for a full season. Is this only a rule for first rounders or can we exploit this loophole?

Yeah I was shocked everyone was shitting on him.
Eventually someone will get hurt even if it's not our top two.
We need him pj still has his moments and needs to learn in my opinion.
2nd round tender then sign him on a two year deal he probably ants to stay.
He loved it here before the injury

Dude stays hurt...why pay someone, no matter how good he is, to do a job if they can never do the job because they're hurt. Injury prone means leave him alone!

It would be foolish not to tender him at a 2nd round offer. Healthy he is worth every bit of that, and teams around the league know that. Perhaps we can attract someone interested in parting ways with their 2nd or other compensation.

Nobody is going to give a second or likely a third for him. He'll be 29 this season and it's not like he's had a stellar career where he's had multiple really high quality seasons. I love the guy but he's had a pretty decent injury history in comparison to his production and he'll be 30 in a year.

Personally, I'd like to see him get the second round deal and then a short contract because I think he's a fantastic human being and would love to see him pocket some money. Think he's made about a million and a half for his career. With all the shite contracts we've handed out over the last decade Delvin Breaux getting an extra million or two would sit fine with me.

Is the extra million worth it, because I have a hard time thinking some team is going to give him money

If you tender him original round he doesn’t count in the comp pick right?

For second round dollars I’m not hating it but not eager.

I might even consider just offering him a deal and not tendering him at all instead of original round and figuring you might get a mid rounder down the line(haven’t mapped out expected losses/potential signings though)

I don’t think Saints will tender.
He will sign a 1 yr contract elsewhere

Payton will probably go 2nd round since he used their 2nd round in 2017.
$2.9Mil is not bad for a good corner.

I agree. I'd rather just give him the original tender and have right of first refusal (ability to match) than give him an extra million to keep him off the market (no one is giving up a second for him).

If someone offers him about $3 mil in the first year then it comes out as a wash. If someone offers him $4 mil+ we weren't paying him that anyway and we could structure a contract for someone else that'd be cheaper than $3 mil in the first year.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if they just gave him a qualifying offer (vet minimum) and roll the dice on no one else signing him as opposed to giving him a RFA tender. We tried that with a few guys and it's mostly worked (Tom Johnson being an exception).

Offer him the minimum, and if he balks, cut him loose. He is injury prone , and I think Crawley is better. I respect Breaux for what he has had to deal with, but business is business.

yup and in all honesty, nickel corner seems to be an issue moreso than outside guys.

Interestingly enough...one of the top nickel corners was patrick robinson this year. And he's a free agent. Possibly bring him back and draft another guy in the 4th?

Lattimore
Crawley
Robinson
Williams
[Draft]

Seems a lot better IMHO than

Lattimore
Crawley
Williams
Breaux
[Draft]
[Insert guy to replace Breaux when he's hurt]
