quote:Hardly - its just an analogy. Saints take Arnoux instead of Freeman, a guy on no one's board instead of a guy that got some notice. Saints trade up for a punter, forgoing selecting a RB then invite an undrafted RB with lots of questions, to be nice about it, to camp.
Are you calling Foster gold?

i've seen some analysts call freeman the steal of day 2.

i like the PJ Hill signing....very productive at Wisconsin and tough to keep off the field...he could possibly be that short yardage back we've been needing.....that Donaldson kid looks like a wrecking ball....good chance one of them beats out Lynell Hamilton...

John Clay > PJ Hill
But Hill still averaged his highest YPC of his career last year.
It's a good pickup regardless.

forgot he came out early....goddam..seems like he's been there forever...still think he's worth a looksee....he might be perfect for the short yardage situations but i do believe he's got about 75% chance of being cut...

Agreed. I think Bush, Thomas, and Hill as a pure short yardage back could work well.
At least it shows that the coaches understand the need we have in the backfield and may not be done yet trying to address it.
Makes passing on Beanie easier knowing that they basically gave GW the controls during the draft to bring guys in to run his system, but are still going to work on the backfield through FA and hopefully trades.

I like the Hill signing. I think he actually has a chance to make the team and get a few carries.

scathing NY Daily News-
...the story right now continues to be Hill's fall from grace. The star running back who surprisingly left school a year early to pursue a professional football career has racked up two DUIs since he declared for the draft and exactly zero interest from any of the 32 NFL teams.
And apparently it's his former offensive line's fault, not his poor decision making skills or the DUIs, which certainly go hand-in-hand. In a New York Daily news story from last Tuesday, Hill was quoted saying: "Wisconsin struggled on our offensive line, but I made the most of every opportunity. I know I'll do that in the NFL."
Right, so having Joe Thomas (already an NFL Pro Bowler) your freshman year must have been a bad thing. Having the emergence of Gabe Carimi filling in for Thomas the last two seasons must have been a bad thing. Playing three seasons at a school known for having huge offensive lines must have been a bad thing.
Those five guys on the line are the only reason why Hill was once compared to Ron Dayne. They are the only reason why Hill, an injury prone baby, was able to stay healthy as long as he did. They are the only reason Hill even had a chance to be drafted in New York this past weekend. And unless I missed something, they had absolutely nothing to do with Hill getting two DUIs, the second of which involved him eluding police after getting pulled over.
So cheers to the 32 teams from the NFL for making the wise decision of not drafting a kid who once was full of promise, but is now in a downward spiral not only in his football life, but in his life in general.

So you don't think Big 10 #'s are valid, you don't think Big 12 passing #'s are valid. Is that it or do you not trust Pac-10 sack totals either?
At some you are going to have to realize that good players can come from somewhere besides the SEC and ACC

Yeah I know, but we still passed on him at 14 knowing we might not be able to get back in to pick him later.

That would have been a travesty. I can't tell you how fricking pissed I would have been.

there are 3 good/great RBs from C-USA (deangelo williams, chris johnson, and matt forte) and possibly 4 next year (kevin smith)

to be fair, i don't think he's championing the foster signing either

Arian Foster is actually so good that the moment he sets foot on the field he shall be taken directly into football heaven to live alongside Jonathan Sullivan, Jarrett Lee, and Reggie Ball, among other greats
I'm obviously all over Foster's nuts.
I think one of them might make the team, but I doubt they make any contribution to the team.
