I live in the area and floated the Truckee River just yesterday. The campsite she was at is very remote. Many reports say that she along with most of the other teens there were drinking. The most likely scenario is that while impaired she drove into a body of water or off a cliff and just has not been found yet. I would also put some sort of accident at the party and the kids covering it up as more likely than an abduction

That’s what happened with that Indiana college girl years ago and they never figured it out. They suspect it was a covered up accident.

Maybe, but she graduated early, at 16.

Is this were the case, you’d think she and her car wouldn’t have traveled very far off of the main road, thus making her fairly easy to locate. You’d think they could just search 50 yards on either side of the road and find her

I like this theory. That’s pretty much what I meant by crashing in an obscure spot. But your mention of crashing into water makes sense cause the phone would stop pinging simultaneously from the water

Not many lakes around deep enough to bury a car these days

My money is on she drove off into the lake and they just haven’t found her yet. She got drunk and told friends she was gonna stay, then snuck off to drive home (why no one saw her leave) so she wouldn’t get in trouble

Is this in an area with steep hills and sharp curves?

An inexperienced driver at 12:30 am could easily go off a cliff on those roads.

, I agree abduction is very likely due to the timing of the phone turning off.

The most likely explanation is she went to meet a guy and run away with him. Kids aren't dumb and know they have to kill their phones or they'll be caught.

Within the "teen girl is missing" paradigm, it's literally a 95%+ chance it's either (1) family or (2) a secret boyfriend.

I'd say drunk driving accident or accident at the party are probably 3-4% of the remaining 5%. Abductions like this are just so incredibly rare.

I assume you're referring to Lauren Spierer?

What bothers me about that case is that if there was an accident that was covered up, all the people around her at the time were drunk college students. How were they able to conceal all evidence associated with disposing of a dead body so well (in such an inebriated state) that to this day no trace of her has been found?

It's just crazy to me that no one has ever leaked (even anonymously) any concrete evidence over the past 11 years that explains what happened to Lauren.

couple points for deduction...

1. Would think that there isn't a lot of foliage there. It's not like bumfrick Winn parish by any means so an air search for a vehicle should have a high chance.

2. If the car burned upon crash wouldn't see the smoke due to nighttime. Might not see the flames if remote enough and in some ravine. However, car would still be a hot spot on thermal even many hours later.

3. Being remote her means of egress are limited for some distance from the party or last seen making a search from air even more efficient. Even if she got lost, roads still limited.

So if she did not land in a body of water, which would wxplain a lot, and just wrecked even a cliff or something one would think that car would have been located.

That leaves:
- abduction where they used or removed her vehicle from the area which means more than one abductor due to remoteness.
- in a body of water
- she doesn't want to be found and car is no longer in the immediate area

The latter has a higher probability than all.

If an abduction where the car was removed implying multiple abductors AND some pre-planning the she likely knew one or more of the abductors. There's a chance, a small one, is a unknown person's abduction, pre-planned or not, but it isn't likely.

I though this too, but when I looked at Goggle maps there does not appear to be many bodies of water to drive off the road into (assuming she was going home, which I believe is just south of Truckee). There is a road on the edge of the reservoir she was at, but surely they would have found the car by now if she went off that road - even into the water as there is not that much shoreline for sonar and/or divers to search - not to mention there would almost certainly be some indication a vehicle went off the road.

Of all the missing child cases, why did you choose to post about this one?

abduction mostly due to timing of phone stopping pinging minutes after leaving the party around 1230 AM.

Couldn’t the phone be submerged and not ping?

If it was submerged/damaged, then it probably wouldn’t ping.

However, the Sheriff did also say that the phone could have been pinging for some time after the last known ping and the data was just not received, which means it could’ve died later, she coulda crashed further away or someone could have shut it off later than that
