That's why I didn't buy a Colorado... I picked up a 1500 Silverado LT crew cab with the 5.3 liter engine that was basically loaded except for leather and 4wd for 1K more....

I've driven both, the crew cab is a no brainer.
I don't understand why people think others want a full size pickup truck. Maybe they live in the city and have get in tight spaces. Maybe they will literally never haul anything over 3,000 pounds.
The guy comes here asking about a tacoma and the car salesmen of the OT start pushing the F150. Typical.

you can get a full size truck for the same price.
This.
Don't go in with the mindset that the Tacoma will have much better fuel mileage because it's still a truck.

True Car
2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport
4WD
Crew Cab
Short Bed
Automatic
Average price paid $34,098 (for Baton Rouge area)
ETA:
This. Just bought a 2016 Tundra Crew Max, 4WD. Couldn't be happier.
Gas mileage is the only bad thing about it, but with oil prices the way they are, I'm taking a very minimal budget hit on gas.
FWIW, my previous vehicle was a 2008 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner.
Tacoma or Tundra, either way it's a win/win for you.

4 door long beds are kind of meh on a Tacoma. To get a deal you'll have to grab something off of the lot. Go to a place with a ton of them and start talking...
If you get really specific with what you want you'll pay sticker or more.

I agree, they are pretty much the same size as the older full size trucks and new tacomas have 6800lb towing capacity.

Anyone know a ballpark figure on how much off MSRP
Depends on supply, demand and how well you can or cannot negotiate.

I very much doubt you'll even get $1K off of MSRP.
Might get $500...
Might get $500...

Download all the car/truck apps and look around. I found my Tundra listed 3500 less on the app than the dealers website and made that our starting price. You'll see different prices for the same truck at the same dealership on different apps. They'll honor the lowest, and go from there.

I agree VetteGuy. The dealers can't keep the new Tacomas on the lots at least around me. I wouldn't expect them to budge much, because they just don't have to right now.

They won't come off much, those things sell when they hit the lot. You might could get $1K off.

I just bought a 2016 Tundra Crew Max 4WD 1794 edition 5.7L V8 loaded out features for 48,750.
Love it. I have found that ford high end models are over priced. MSRP on my truck with all the bells and whistles is about 52,550.
I got great deal in trade in as well.
I wouldn't go Ford. They wanted 65K for a loaded 4 wheel King Ranch. Even in best of deals you pay 58 plus k for a nice platinum or king ranch new.
Dealership at Ford tried to sell me a used king ranch for 56k with 6800 miles on it and a 2015 when I got a brand new Tundra for 48 K with no miles on it brand new.
There in lies the difference. Ford marks up prices and says see look we are the best our prices are expensive and we will try to fricking you at every angle.
That's what I have experienced first hand. Maybe us just the dealership as all can be durastocally different.

When I bought my 2013 tacoma price leblanc actually had a 1500 market adjustment on the msrp. You're going to pay sticker for the updated model 2016 model or maybe get 500 off, unless you know someone.

You could damn near buy a new full size truck for that much.
Unless you don't want a full sized truck. It is possible people dig less gigantic trucks more than they dig gigantic trucks. :P

In 2012 I paid $34,500 for a new Tundra CrewMax. The list was $41,900.
A loaded 4X4 Tacoma stickered for $36,000 on the showroom floor.

I was just saying that's expensive for a small truck.

All of the domestics mark up their prices 20% or more over dealer cost. You just have to know that when negotiating.
