I grew up in New Orleans, not going back for any reason. I've had a cousin and a good friend both murdered by POCs. The deal is that in NO the odds are that you will be OK on day one, but the longer you stay the more likely they will get you.

The criminal class in NO is ruthless, they don't care about anything but their next fix.

Stock up on basic necessities. Guns, ammo, night vision goggles, high capacity magazines, etc. Get a top rated security system. Body armor would be something to consider.

Westwego or Des Allmands are a little longer commute, but safe and inexpensive as well. I’m not sure about their levees.
