I'm a huge toyota fan but the v6 turbos are a huge red flag for me. Id rather buy a 2021 or later Tundra than any of this turbo bs.

I have a 2024 Silverado 1500 with the 3.0L Duramax and I can’t recommend it enough. Smooth, quiet, powerful, great fuel economy (roughly 21/28 in real life)
However. If you know you are going to be doing a lot of short trips and around town driving, I don’t necessarily recommend the diesel as you will plug up the emissions stuff over time and that will cause big expensive problems down the road.
Honestly, buying a half-ton truck from any brand means you’re getting that brand’s best product, so I recommend you drive a few of them and buy the one you like.
There will be good ones and less good ones, but just remember that for every horror story you hear about a Ford or a Ram or whatever else, there are 5000 other people who bought the same trucks and had zero issues with theirs.

Test drive and decide.
I’ve driven 3gens of f150 in a row and I’ve been less impressed by each one on to my 2022 Lariat. Love the exterior styling and the key pad, but Ford somehow thought it was a good idea to eliminate that on the 2025 models. The 10 speed transmission sucks compared to my 2016 6spd. Interior is nice but feels very plastic and cheap and is getting surpassed by Chevy/GMC with their new design.
That being said, I’ve enjoyed the 5.0 on back to back gens. It can boogie even with 35” tires. Does have 3.73 gears

2019 Ram Tradesman, solid truck if you don’t do a ton of off-roading. Great gas mileage for a full size, about 24 on highway

I've got a one year old and a 100lb German Shepherd. Had a GMC Sierra AT4 and within a month of H2O Jr. being born I traded it in for a Yukon XL.
Thile there have been a few times I've missed having a truck bed, it's more than offset by the amount of cargo room, even with the third row seat up.

I bought a 2024 Honda Ridgeline. I pull my 17 ft Bass Tracker with no issues. It’s AWD so pulls it out tge water better than my former 2500 Silverado. I get 26 mpg on highway. Non turbo V6 with enough power. Very reliable. I know someone with a 2010 with over 300K miles on it. Also can get in a fully loaded Black Edition for about 45k.

I had a 2023 Hybrid Tundra that was great, until a deer decided he would run right at me and totaled it. 56,000 miles and not one issue. Insurance company paid me $5000 over what I paid for it, so got another 2024 Hybrid Tundra and love it just as much. Don't listen to the garbage. Toyota stepped up to the plate with the ones that had the machine debris in the engine. No other auto manufacturer would have done the same.

Just get a bed extender.
Do not buy a Ford with blind spot sensors (BLISS) in the taillights. They're "secured" with conventional screws, and retail for about $4k each taillight. Bed covers, etc., don't stop the thieves.

I believe it's the F250, not the 150, that has this problem. It's not just the BLIS sensors, the taillights also house the weight balance sensors for the tow package or something along those lines.

Went from a big arse Silverado 2500 to a Ridgeline. One of my good buddies laughed at me. I did t need the big truck any longer. I had 2021 gas burner with a 36 gallon tank. Went from paying over $100 to fill up to $50. At this point in my life ride and comfort are more important than a truck I don’t need.
