They are very much protecting him. No matter the outcome of the trial, his family will still be sitting pretty with monthly checks.

Yes, government pensions are outrageous and need to be reformed. It is also too difficult to fire government employees. What exactly did you expect them to do about that in this specific case?

And you simply just lie. I hate bad police. I have no problem with good law enforcement. Sheriff Grady Judd is an excellent example of good law enforcement. There's no way in hell he would have let this happen. He has thrown his own officers in jail over much less. No way Trump would have given him a pay day either. You are a sheep who just shrugs his shoulders and accepts the status quo. What do you think would happen if they had refused his retirement? Do you think the pedo cop would have sued? They could have surely come up with some violation of fine print to withhold it. They do that that shite with civil asset forfeiture all the time.

You are assuming he's going to be able to keep his pension. I believe that to be a flawed assumption.
FYI, Alabama retirements are filed directly with RSA. He didn't need anyone at his department to sign anything for him.
