When her term is up, she will have served as governor for a decade. A total indictment on how stupid the Alabama voters are.

hat actually sounds like a decent price (per inmate) currently.
The new LA women's prison was $150 million for 138 beds and they still had to VE out some auxiliary type buildings to get there.
LCIW is going to have around 1,000 inmates. Nothing was VEd. Alternates were priced during bid time and only one of the building alternates was not accepted.

State construction projects are the MIC of Alabama. So much grift and back door money it’s not even funny. About 25% of that $1B will end up in private pockets.
Alabama ain't alone in this...it is the American way. And you can rest assured that the majority of the Architects, the engineers, the vendors, the general contractors, the specialty subs and most of the labor force are staunch, small government conservatives who despise the idea of government spending (except for their projects) and see themselves as self reliant, rugged individual producers instead of the welfare receiving parasites they actually are.

Small government conservatives LOVE spending billions of dollars on bigger places to incarcerate more people.

Southern conservatives are far more 1960s Democrats than they are Barry Goldwater.
Its always been this way. Populism rules the South

If you Democrats didn't have such a hard-on for releasing criminals to prey on innocent people, maybe we wouldn't need more prisons.
I'm all for more prisons and we can do it MUCH, MUCH cheaper.
Three hots, a cot and let them bitches rot.

Permanently incarcerating anti social people who refuse to voluntarily be a decent person aroudn others seems like a fantastic idea.

The problem is prisons have plenty of non violent offenders that increase crowding. And furthermore, some of the "violent" offenses would be decreased if we weren't hell bent of fighting a failed war on drugs.
quote:
Using the violent crime defined by state statute, Town found that 15,902 inmates who could be considered having committed a violent crime, about 75.5% of felony inmates in ADOC custody at the time. However, when applying the federal definition, that figure declined to 14,717, roughly 69.8% of the felony inmate population.

Not that it's a surprise that a conservative like you wants as many people in jail as possible.

the Batman video game Arkham City was basically this. They walled off the "old Gotham" city area and let the criminals run amok. I love the idea.

ooof. Hate to be assigned to the $170 million prison.

Two types of leftists:
Shitty street urchins
Shitty ivory tower types who live in gated communities.
Neither understand cause/effect.

(SIAP) Imagine what Joe Arpaio could do with the money. He could build something that would hold half the state for that amount of money.
