Even though this won't go down as a memorable tropical system, it is pretty amazing that the computer models were calling for a storm like this at this time well over 10 days ago.

agreed..we give the weather folks a good bit of shite, but their models have become pretty damn accurate over the years.

Sure as hell not Nash way back in the 1960's filling in everything with a Marksalot.
Yes, I'm that old.

Alberto kicked up the seas a good bit in Navarre but other than that and some brief, light showers we haven’t seen much thankfully. Been a cloudy but pleasant afternoon on the beach.

We went To the outlet mall and by the time we got back it had slacked off rain wise. Got a little beach time this afternoon to just hang out. Hoping for only pop up showers the next few days.

POLK COUNTY, N.C. —
WYFF News 4 anchor Mike McCormick and WYFF News 4 photojournalist Aaron Smeltzer died Monday when a tree fell on their SUV.
The accident happened on Highway 176 in Polk County while they were covering the rain impact in that area.
Mike joined WYFF News 4 in April 2007 as a reporter in the Spartanburg newsroom. In 2014, he was also named anchor of WYFF News 4 on Sundays at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Mike came to the Upstate from Arkansas, where he was a reporter and fill-in anchor at one of WYFF 4's sister stations, KHBS/KHOG, for nearly three years.
Mike graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in broadcast journalism and theatre arts. He had two dogs, both adopted from the Spartanburg Humane Society. When Mike was not reporting or anchoring the news, you would find him in the kitchen. He loved using local, fresh ingredients from the Hub City Farmers’ Market.
Aaron was the photographer in the Spartanburg bureau. He joined the WYFF News 4 family in February of this year.
Aaron shot news for more than a decade in our region. He is originally from Tazewell, Virginia, and graduated from Radford University with a degree in broadcast video communications. He was an avid baseball fan.
Aaron loved traditional country music- including Keith Whitley, Randy Travis and Alabama, just to name a few.
All of us at WYFF News 4 are grieving. We are a family and we thank you, our extended family, for your comfort as we mourn and as we seek to comfort the families of Mike and Aaron.

I’m 20 minutes west of PC Beach. It’s hilarious this storm has generated 56 pages.

I'm in Crestview, almost right on line with the eye, and it's been the biggest nothingburger you could think of.
Kept telling my wife there has never been a tropical storm that ever worried me.

In Orange Beach right and have never seen the water so calm before. Earlier today it was still a little rough, but it's almost glassy smooth right now.
