The store owner is quoted as saying the cops pulled a gun out of his pocket after the shooting.

Baton Rouge police did not provide much information about what escalated the incident between the officers and Sterling or what prompted an officer to fire his weapon. A witness, however, described police as “aggressive” and said Sterling was armed but was not holding his gun or touching his pockets during the incident. Police later retrieved a gun from the man’s pocket, said the witness, shop owner Abdullah Muflahi.

You're hitting the nail on the head here, Salmon.

The man was pinned down. He was shot point blank in the chest 4-6 times. How is this even close to sensible? And I am someone who almost always sides with police or understand a cop's plight in a situation like this. But this looks really, really bad.

Yep. Family member said the gun was a recent purchase because another friend of his had gotten mugged recently.
purchased from where? He's a convicted violent felon

So Alton fricked a younger high school broad back in the day and slung some weed whilst owning a pistol as well.... Seems like he deserved to die to me. Scum of the earth fo sho.
I guess you conveniently forgot the rest of it... aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, unauthorized entry and domestic abuse battery

I don't see how anyone can criticize the cops on this just yet. Wait until we find out if the guy had a gun first. If he was armed, the cops did no harm.

Oh? Why ignore all the other things that had to happen for this to take place. He was given ample opportunity to still be alive. These cops used tasers first. They tried physical force. Two things you are always campaigning for in these threads. Well they did it. Yet you're still here claiming "comply or die".

Well that was disturbing.
At what point did the cops' body cams fall off, exactly?
Didn't they say they didn't have video because their body cams fell off?

the guy never had possession of the gun in his hands? he just had it on him?
it makes a big difference if the guy just had a gun in his pocket or if the guy was actively trying to get to the gun

He wasn't pinned on his stomach. He was on his back still fighting. Cop saw gun and thought he went for it it sounds like. And the number of shots isn't relevant. The moment you make the decision to shoot you feel your life is at risk and you shoot until you KNOW the person is dead. That goes for everyone in what they feel is a life threatening situation.

Well witness says he didnt go for it. But from the video it is hard to tell. Someone sad the store owner is yelling he has a gun which prompts the cop to yell it as well.

Wouldn't you rather him sell burnt cd's than live off of your tax dollars?
I haven't watched a dvd or popped a cd into my radio for close to half a decade.
Seriously. Who still buys stuff like this?

If you are a cop and you have a guy pinned on the ground, you don't shoot him in the face
Unless he is armed and is able to get his hand close enough to the weapon where I feel if I don't react I could die

If he did anything resembling reaching for it, I have no issue with shooting him just with a gun in his pocket. I care more about the safety of the cops than the convicted felon that is unlawfully possessing a firearm, has already been tased, and is actively resisting.

Cops have a license to kill. Do. Not. Resist.

This. And it witness Store owner interviewed has stated that the gun was taken out of his pocket after he was shot and killed. Was he going for the gun? We certainly cannot ascertain that from the video. Yet people are saying he was going for it. Like I have said before, the police have stated they are reviewing the security video from the store.
It doesn't matter if he "was going for the gun" he had a gun and was wrestling with the cops and they couldn't control him. Their use of force was appropriate. You can't wait for the suspect to gain the upper hand when there are multiple guns present and you cant control him with non lethal force.
You are putting a huge burden on the police here. All the suspect literally has to do is stop moving. That's not very hard after you have been tazed twice and tackled to the ground. How could you still not understand the situation?

If I choose to physically wrestle with a cop knowing there's a gun in my pocket I fully expect death is a legitimate possibility.

And even if he did, 2 cops couldn't disarm him while on top without shooting him in the face several times?
Armed robber, with a gun and you want the police to duck around and wrestle with him?
Wake the frick up. He wasn't complying and so he Danny sure wasn't going to start after he pulled a weapon.
