My wild guess would be Charlotte (maybe Raleigh), Nashville, or Atlanta. Somewhere southeast.

I know they want an international airport and Atlanta has the biggest one in the country.

Largest port system in the Western Hemisphere, rail already in place, new airport terminal, there's a lot to offer between Baton Rouge and greater New Orleans. Have to get the products into the country.

I would imagine NOVA would be under strong consideration. Maybe even Richmond if that doesn't work for whatever reason.

1a. Austin
1b. Donaldsonville, LA (between the bustling hubs of NOLA & BR)

The rest.

If this Jeff Bozo guy was really smart and thought outside of the box like he claims, he'd choose Mississippi's Golden Triangle region.

I have to think it's a city in the central or eastern time zone. And I don't think it's in the Northeast.

Austin seems to have a hard enough time sustaining the growth they've had infrastructure wise, but the Whole Foods thing makes it interesting. Not to mention it's a big tech place.

Somewhere in NC, either Charlotte or Raleigh-Durham has to be top 3.

Nashville is also having trouble with their rapid growth and maintaining infrastructure but it is one of the hottest cities in the nation.

Atlanta has the infrastructure it would seem.

Another couple cities I think would also have a shot are Minneapolis and Columbus OH. People have mentioned Chicago but I don't think that's the business environment Bezos is looking for.

Memphis is putting in a bid...it has to be in the top 250 cities that have a chance.

My prediction is Kansas City or Richmond.

Well we know that they want a metro area of at least one million which narrows it down to about 53 metros.

And obviously it's going to be hard to choose a state that has a high corporate tax rate:

Effective Tax Rates on Corporate Headquarters by State

So the median effective corporate tax rate is about 13.7% so it doesn't seem likely that they would choose a state higher than that.

And since only about 15 of the top half of those states has a metro area with a million or more people, we can already narrow it down to less than 30 metro areas, in about 14 states with AZ, FL, OH, NC, TX, and VA having multiple metros that could meet that.

So my best guess would be one of the following: Dallas, DC, Atlanta, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Austin, Columbus, and Indianapolis. All have metros over 2 million, are growing, more centrally located within their states, and with easy access to top universities.

For some reason I just don't see Houston and the Florida cities as likely options, on or near the coasts. But then again Seattle is essentially on the corner of the US so maybe I'm just biased by the recent Hurricanes. I just have a feeling that they are looking for a second HQ because they want a place fundamentally different than Seattle (e.g., lower taxes and central location would be most obvious).

Dallas/Atlanta/Charlotte

It's where most companies move to if they aren't already there. Huge airports, huge cities, not shitty weather, and tax friendly

I've actually been talking with Amazon friends at HQ in Seattle. Word about it has been going around for a while, and they think it's already a done deal.

That's because the tax rate in CA has driven them out. The problem is that the democrats can't understand why their agenda doesn't work but continues the same rhetoric when they transfer to states like Texas.

You have no fricking clue what you're talking about. You spout some shite you heard on AM radio and think it's actually true.

This will likely go to Texas, Amazon seems to be putting a lot in there and bought a multi-billion dollar Austin based grocery chain recently too.
