It’s a “mass shooting” when it happens outside the ghetto.

Eh, I don't see it as a political issue as much as I see it as what Ted Kaczynski warned about: Technocracy resulting in a distancing from man from his biological roots. The constant bombardment of ads, information from social media, screens, constant pressure of consumption just drives people mad. Either consciously or subconsciously.

I'm still astounded that everything he said has essentially come true in the past 30 years.

Also news isn't propagated by the government directly.

It's ad agencies that run the agenda. It's why you see big pharma plastered all over conservative media and big tech/big Hollywood all over liberal media.

This isn't the first time someone went ham at their work trying to kill everyone or just their boss.

30 years ago you'd maybe have a point, but there are plenty of conservative news outlets around today acting as PR departments of the right.

Anyway, back to the OP question. People have been going crazy for decades, if not centuries. This is nothing new. Mass shooting are generally a new thing over the last 20-30 years. There are certainly earlier incidents, but more isolated. One reason they're more common today is the copycat phenomenon. Another is the ease of which obtaining guns is in this country, coupled with the decline of teaching proper gun safety.

There is no more talking. There is no more reasoning. In politics the other side is the enemy of the people. Cancel Culture and ‘Woke’ and ‘peaceful’ rioting is in full swing. Constant day after day after day of protesting. Men are no longer men and women are no longer women. News coverage is nothing but bad news 24/7. News coverage has become ‘outrage’ coverage. Depending which news network you land on.....the other side is the enemy of the United States and all of mankind.

Turn off the news, interact with folks in your neighborhood and town and you’ll realize this isn’t true. The news media constantly shining a spotlight and pushing the narrative has convinced us all that we hate each other.

Forget that shite, turn it off. I’ve turned off cable, twatter, Instagram, never had Facebook, for over a year and my life is truly better for it. I do come here to bitch and melt about our idiotic politicians a good bit. But I truly believe we don’t hate each other as much as the media wants us to.

My small town keeps chugging right along with neighbors being friendly regardless of politics. Yes there are nut job evil people in this country, but they don’t outnumber all of us good normal folks.

Agreed. As bad as it is, there are many people trying to enter the country every way possible.

I believe what we are seeing today is a result of the internet. With as many things it has made available to us, in cool useful ways. It has completely fricked this country up. If there were a way to go back to those days in the early 90's....

Nah, we were fine when we had the net in the 90s/mid 2000s.

It's when you condensed a PC into a pocket form and made the internet a compulsive psychological dependency that all these issues cropped up.

If Steve Jobs was the antichrist, I wouldn't be surprised.

My general theory is that what you are seeing with mass shooters today are who the serial killers of 30, 40 years ago were.

Adding in technology has shifted the paradigm - serial killers loved the 'slow burn' because it fed their egos and satisfied their cravings. You never really hear about serial killers anymore because it's simply too easy now to get caught. Today however, with the instant celebrity status we have begun the transition to mass shootings because you can get everything you wanted (back then) with simply 5 minutes of going insane.

We’ve gone from a Christian nation to a Godless nation. We are on our own now, and are reaping what we have sown.

Yep.

You can see the shift happening in the late 80s/90s.

Less methodical serial killers, more all at once mass shootings.

Which is why they're all mentally deficient. They fail to have the rationale to realize that they're gonna spend the rest of their life in isolation at a supermax. So, they don't get the satisfaction of ever seeing the fruits of their labor.

And again, technology has changed our way of thinking...even for the criminals and the murderers. We have shifted to everything being instantaneous...and over the past few decades the criminals and murderers have shifted just as much as we have, which is what we see now.

That 'slow burn' has changed to 'make me a meme'

Honestly it’s all vitriol in the internet world. In my day to day life of being in public, it’s been fine. The machine that is social media and the news fuels the hatred because it’s prints money.

I worked for many years with an older guy out of Slidell. The absolute nicest man I have ever met in my life, would give you the shirt off of your back or the last dollar out of his wallet.

On social media he shares his political beliefs (completely different than mine in most regards). I just scroll past it. It is very easy to move on past.

Its easy for stable people to move on past.

Not everyone is stable. Some people cannot move past and will go as far as to believe that the old guy is their literal enemy and must be destroyed.

I've heard this before from progs and it's total BS narrative.

Sure there are right leaning publications. But they don't have near the broadcast that the left MSM outlets do.

CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC VS what, sorta Fox news?

Anyone denying that MSM isn't a wing of the democratic party is just lying.
