Drinking isn’t a requirement to have fun but most activities, not all but most, are more fun if there is an open bar. Judging by the popularity of the bar at said activities, I think most people will agree with me on this point.
Most "activities" with open bars are events I don't want to be at. The open bar doesn't make it more fun, it makes it less painful.

Same here. As I get older, the hangovers just aren’t worth it to me.

a buncha former pussy alcoholics
Alcoholics are a weird bunch as they love to share how inferior they are like it's a badge of honor.
Like "My name is Alex and I can't drink alcohol without ruining my life. I haven't ruined my life since April 7, 2012."
I guess it saves lives.

I'm 5+ years on the wagon. The things I used to do while drinking I don't do anymore. The crowd at my former hangout have all gone their separate ways. And I gave up my LSU FB tickets several years ago.
I enjoy waking up with my head in one piece. And I'm saving a lot of money in the process.
It's also good to remember what I did the night before and who I did it with.

Not me but a friend. Dad was an abusive alcoholic who physically abused him. He saw how alcohol took over his dad's life. From that point on he decided not to drink.

Rock bottom comes in many shapes and forms.
Do gambling, sex, heroin addicts boast about their success like alcoholics?

Of all the drugs I've done and addicts I've been around, PCP is like the Bigfoot of drugs. I've heard and read about it, but don't know anyone that's actually done it or even seen it.

I have never not drank alcohol.

I hate alcohol for the most part. Once in a blue moon I’ll have a beer but that’s it. Now opiates are another story, I had a genuine love affair with them. That’s all in the past though and has been for a while.

i like drunks and drinking a little more than i should so figured if you not gonna get "too loose" what is the point so i just quit cold
still make a cocktails for family and friends and kept my very very well stocked bar
i just make mocktails for myself or na becks and serve my guest real becks
very very tough the first year but that passed

Do you also believe in the third testament?

Same. I've never known anyone to have it. Not even 00-02 when all kinds of crazy shite was coming out.

Absolutely.
A huge part of recovery is uncovering shite that you long held secret. What you see as "boasting" is simply people who have overcome something against great odds desperately trying to build a wall between who they are and what they once were.

No question about it.

I stopped in 2010. By that time I wasn't drinking often, but whenever I did I tended to overdo it.
I watched the LSU-Penn State bowl game intending to have a few beers with friends, and ended up getting blackout drunk on ale. When I woke up I said frick that, I'm done.

People who are saying that they don't need alcohol to have fun
I mean i don't need running shoes to run, but that shite sure does help.
