Thanks. It'll be ok. We live in a flood zone X but carry flood insurance anyway. I doubt we'll get any water in our raised house but the street flooding is a pain in the arse.

yesterday was a huge amount of ran in short periods.... there is still some HUGE drainage upgrades going on right now. So the water isn't getting to the outfall canals as it should in certain areas... but it is 100000 times better than just 15 years ago.... I remember anytime there was a shower that would drop just 2" of rain, the ENTIRE neighborhood was finding the closest neutral ground to park on and leave their cars. They would all be packed every time it rained.... shite every time it rained Marc Morial would come on the news telling everyone leaving their car there was fine and encouraged, now Mitch writes tickets

That jackass Cedric Grant blamed the flooding on global warming instead of the pumps.

the reason you see so many pillar and beams across NO is because of this, shite many houses are so high there is 'bacement' on the first floor.... really only slab homes in Nola were probably built after ww2 like some parts of LV, Gentilly, East

Don't recall it.... I've may have rode my bike only down Desaix no more than 3 times in the last 18 months.

I thought you bought on the riverside of the FG's in the little hood between Esplanade and Gentilly Blvd for some reason. Maybe context clues and my stupid OT memory

I moved out of NO 15 years ago but have heard the same statements made every few years since the 1970s. I know in the last yen years they've built huge pumping stations and torn up streets for years to repair drainage so where are the benefits demonstrated? Is Jefferson Ave any better? Obviously midcity and lakeview aren't.

Nah, too poor for that hood. We are a few blocks from St. Leo the Great. Near St. Bernard and Broad.

Or is it better, but 8 inches in 3 hours still an insane amount of water to move?

There are upgrades in the system, all kinds of living with water changes (permeable concrete, reforestation, etc...) but at the end of the day -- with 8 inches in 3 hours progress is measured in depth of flooding not whether flooding happened

Really really good friend lives on Hamburg St, just Right on the other side on 610 from you.

That area was a killing field in the late 90s early 00s when they shut down the St Thomas projects and moved all the residents to the St Bernard Projects, its SOOO amazing how far it's come.

I was close to moving to within blocks of you about 8-9 months ago

That shite is an eyesore. Don't know what the hell they were thinking. Maybe they were trying to view Jazz Fest from their living room or something

I really like our neighborhood for the most part. Our block is solid but there's a drug dealer who inherited a big house from grandma who lives in the block next to us that I obviously take issue with. Some friends of ours live on Abundance and it's a little sketchier toward them but our whole neighborhood has been gentrifying. The houses over he have gone up in price just in the last year since we bought.

Did that area flood in Katrina? The only thing I could think of is maybe PTSD from dealing with prior flooding?

So I guess the benefit of having a relatively nice vehicle is free roadside and they are sending someone to wench my car off my lawn for free.

I'm so dumb.

Also would not be surprised if tickets start showing up on cars parking on the neutral ground.

It's weird because I'm pretty sure my neighborhood didn't flood and we're so close.
